2. Added the Crocea Mors, i.e., "Yellow Death", the fabled personal sword of Julius Caesar himself. It's a yellow, higher-grade gladius, but it's a historically supportable weapon choice for someone who became a legate of the Empire, like Caesar was at the time.
There were all sorts of spears and javelins they had in use. They had javelins like the pilum or verutum, they had normal spears like the hasta, or even combined weapons that worked more or less as either, such as the longche. Plus a lot more. We're talking some 2000 years of history, so they had time to try all sorts of things.
Well, the lack of a handle is mainly because there's no way to put it where it historically belongs. On the scutum it was a horizontal handle under the boss, and the whole thing was held like you'd hold a briefcase. You know, with the arm vertical downward, and you'd brace your shoulder against it in a clash. Putting a vertical handle to fit the game animations would be possible, but... somehow it bothers the heck out of the wannabe amateur historian in me.
Happy to help! As an artist who pays a lot of attention to detail, stuff like that can make a big difference. However, the lack of a handle bothered me most of all.

I always seek more realism for my experience, and your gladius is 100 times more convincing than the odd one that imperials brandish.
1. New HD texture for the gladius blade.

If you want imperial armour, you'll just have to get it off some soldier.
