Other clams and mussels can produce pearls, but they are usually small, dull, and a hazard to your teeth. The Wikipedia entry on pearls is a decent place to start if you want more info.
And you have to have Dragonborn to get Pearl Oysters anyway. I'm glad of this mod, since it's a way to get Small Pearl (an uncommon ingredient), and get ingredients worth selling when you're low-level. Also resolves the problem that Complete Cooking and Alchemy Overhaul seems to have eliminated the Small Pearl ingredient from normal gameplay (or made it so rare I have not found one in 500+ hours of playtime), yet one is required to complete the quests in the Vilja follower mod.
"I don't mean to rain on anyone's parade but, Clams aren't SUPPOSED to have pearls, OYSTERS are."
LOL! I was going to say, pearls come from oysters and not clams, but I'm glad he made this mod as I need Small Pearls for my Silver and Mithril Weapons Smithing mod!
The only problem is it doesn't seem to be working and I'm not getting any pearls. I have RND, Realistic Animals & Predators and other survival mods, as well as my own Alchemy and Smithing mods, so I hope there's no conflict, or I'll have to be editing for ages to fix things.
I walked all around the coast of Solstheim and got 144 Small Pearls from the oysters, which I need for my Mithril mod, so that's great, but that's normal Vanilla with Dragonborn DLC. Oysters DO drop pearls, large and small.
But I've been all over Skyrim farming clams and have 287 Clam Meat, and zero pearls from them.
TorNyan here. I figured out how to test this mod in a non-tedious way. I edited the values that set how likely it is for a clam to drop to 100% so that they will drop every time, and then teleport to a location with pearls (found with the help of xEdit) and sure enough, it worked. Clams dropped with each of the three types of clams. You just need to open the mod in the 64-bit Creation Kit and save. Have fun.
Also, the author has not logged in to Nexus since 2015. :(
In the Dragonborn DLC there are Pearl Oysters which have pearls in them, so this mod isn't really necessary anymore. Unless you don't have Dragonborn, or want to dive for your pearls.
This mod is kinda obsolete when you have all the DLC's since Dragonborn adds these pearl clams already (they have a black color instead of the dark reddish one) in Solstheim (maybe in the mainland too.

I've had all the DLC since they were released (Legendary Edition) and never seen an oyster.
Cheers!

Cheers and +1 kudos for you.

thought i should share this.
This only adds pearls to the clams in vanilla. Pearl Oysters in Solstheim are unaffected.
why not in skyrim, clams are clams..... same universe... continuity!
This mod is incompatible with Flora Respawn Fix & Harvest Overhaul!
