I do not remember how much I increased their size. I did some other small changes other than just resizing. so creating a mod with sligthly less big shields would be be possible, but too much time for me to do atm.

The most simple way to go about it would be to resize the shields in nifskope.

This looks like a great mod, I was unsatified by those small shields too. But I think to increase realism you could add shield categories (targe, roundel, tower shield), it would allow more variety in fighting style and nobody would complain that the shields are too big or too small. Unfortunately it would require a lot of work to remake all the shields and the corresponding perks

Does this work with Dual Sheath Redux? For placing the shields on the back I mean.

Will this mod work for added shield mods? Sorry if this is posted somewhere and I overlooked it...

No, it only modifies vanilla shields, but if you use the RaceMenu mod you can augment the lefthand weapon scale to make every shields equipped on you character bigger

https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/29624 the RaceMenu mod, I recommend it over ECE, because ECE is kind of broken and abandonned

great mod... looking for this for a long time... skyrim shields so small and unrealistic, because of it i never played the game with shield... thank you for doing this...but i think you should make a immersive armors patch for the mod and be careful about clipping...

It seems finally I wouldn't have to use Race Menu to adjust the size of shields. It's a good idea. However, on the first picture, where the khajiit is blocking, he can't even see past his own shield. The size of the shield is realistic, but it gets in the way of the animation, which I don't think is good. You _should_ be able to see past your shield.

With the dragon bone and the dwarven shield, I like the idea, but I don't think they should be made tower shields (full plate-ish kind of armor with tower shields was never a thing). I think those are the ones that could be made smaller, something to the effect of a heater shield (historically used with full plate). Although, to implement these changes fully, it's quite possible that one would have to change the meshes completely, and perhaps even some of the animations to accommodate the new shield sizes.

Either way, I like the idea a lot.

Not having to use race menu to adjust the size was the idea :) yea the animations are not made for this size of shields so he cant see past his own shield. I might make them a bit smaller or try to learn how to do animations, but I do not think I have the skills for it.

I tried to get the dragonbone shield to look like a kite shield, but it might be too thick and heavy for being that.
The dwarven shield might be too big and heavy. I was not sure what to do whit it.
I think I will try to remake all shields to fit categories like heater shield. maybe one dragonbone heater shield and one dragonbone kite shield so you can select wich one you want. Having different animations for every shield class would be very cool. I don't think I can do it, but I will try.

      thanks!

Animations are usually considered the hardest part of modding. I think there is also a lot of potential in making them.

If you decide to delve into animation making, you could create separate sets of animations for weapon (and shield?) usage depending on the weapon skill, to give the player a feeling of progression as his skills get higher and higher. Older RPGs, such as the Gothic genre had this, and it was very satisfying to see that messing around with a weapon actually had some effect, and you didn't swing around a greatsword like a baseball bat forever. You started out with any weapon like a noob, and you got new animations at skill level 30 and 60, and they all looked progressively more advanced in technique.

It's not a simple task at all, but it's one of the most "ihmersivv" things that haven't been made yet for Skyrim.

Although, adjusting existing animations to make the bigger shields work should be a lot easier than creating them from scratch.

I wish I could help further, but I can only provide my point of view.

I will begin with making adjustment on the existing animations to work whit my mod. If I am able to learn everything.
I think that is the biggest thing missing to my mod.
And I have to make some more adjustment on the meshes too, I will study some more historical shields first.
If it happens to be fun to animate for me then I will look into the idea of adding more.
Giving the player new animations as they progress would really add to the game.
Now that you told me about this, I think I have to play more Gothic 3 to try theirs way of doing it.
I have only played 94 min on that game so I haven't even notice it.
No promises that I actually will do it. but I will give it a try because learning new things is my biggest interest.

Thank you for your point of view! :)

Gothic 3 already streamlined this. There are no advancing animations in that game, sadly. Most Gothic fans don't consider the third and the fourth game to be up to the same standard as the first two were -- and that's an understatement. Gothic 3 is "meh", with the numerous community patches and content and quest mods playable (if you don't mind reading or you speak German). The first two games, however... especially the second, it's my gold standard for ARPGs.

If you are not yet spoiled by modern graphics completely, and don't mind a bit clunky combat system, you should definitely start Gothic 1 if you haven't played it before. If you speak Polish or German, there are also several quest and content add-ons.

Does it make hitbox bigger, so arrows dont go through them?

Me myself have not made any hitboxes bigger. if not the shield mesh itself is the hitbox.
I will try to find out how it works when I get the time.
