If you do, instead of a fixed damage, maybe could be better by a percentile. Ex: 20%/40%/60% of player max health. In this way, could kill you but not 1KO you, on low levels (on high level never will this way).
Now in the mod the damage taken will decrease depending on your resistance. If in mod be a %-damage then the number of damage taken will increase with the character level. And your resistance will not matter.
I do not know the way it work, so an hybrid version where resistence plus a random value maybe is impossible. So far is a good concept. And the best is to keep it simple.

in your demo video, that guy was one hit KO. I love that you have a Requiem version, but since you know Requiem I'd assume you know how difficult it is. HOw powerful are these traps, and is there a way to protect ourselves from them?
