I've always liked the Riverside Shack at the White River banks near Windhelm, and I'm not aiming for a full sized, fully equipped mansion, just a place to store some stuff, cook some food, and sleep peacefully as long as that local neighborhood dragon attacks someone outside your safe radius. If you want lasting peace, you may have to convince that dragon to unlive again but I like that he relentlessly attacks any potential enemy around my cozy home.
I only unlocked the chest, changed its ownership to Player, and replaced the useless cooking pot with a usable one.
I may remove the blood pools and bloody remains of the previous owner later.
Obviously incompatible with any other mod that modifies the shack.
Update 02/21/18
V0.95:
Since I was unable to set the player chest to "no respawn", I've added a new chest which should be safe for storage. Remove everything from the old chest before installing this version!
I also cleaned up the blood splatters and bones.
