I have used the snow-only version for over 50 levels in combination with Climates of Tamriel Winter Edition and More Snow Windy, and I loved it, it is the way that I want to play a game set in a snowy cold continent, sun should be left for other game environments such as Elsweyr, Far Cry 3, Sea of Thieves, Uldum/Zuldazar/Barrens/STV from WoW, Caribbean/desert/canyon/jungle regions with fully blue skies where sun makes sense and shines on the greenery, sand, and water. The cities where I live my daily life lack greenery so I am always sad when it is not raining or snowing, because all that the sun does is to highlight the ugliness of the boring gray/white stone buildings, pavement, roads, or in worst cases the white/gray blinding sky. When it rains in real cities, especially at night and Christmas season, it is beautiful, with the car lights and red lights reflecting everywhere, I always film it when it happens because it is so beautiful and rare. People then become less judgmental because they have other things on their minds such as hurrying to find a shelter and keeping their umbrellas steady, and more empathetic because we are in the same trouble. I hate the Canada effect of "snowy but not snowing" regions (like Boring Tundra and Highmountain in WoW, the zones I hate the most), if it is cold and there is snow/water on the ground, I want the sky to justify it, although I acknowledge that in real life, even the polar regions are not under permanent snow. It is a video game, our chance to make a perfect world.
However now I am starting the West side of Skyrim map and since I love rain too in real life, I wanted to see how it would look without the snow since the vanilla West side was meant to be a bit warmer, so I enabled the "balanced version" along with More Rain -33% (which means I replaced the snow-only EDWS version), because rain in Winterhold or snow in vanilla Solitude would look strange, I disabled Climates of Tamriel, and the rain is amazing, but only when it does rain! It does not rain often enough in the balanced version, I want the clouds to throw something at me at all times, wherever I am on the map, so the clear and sunny states should be just deleted (even the light rain, I do not want to see a piece of blue sky or a non-gray cloud in this game when it rains, screw the farmers), many times in Solitude, the weather is clear. I am using the Weather Master mod spell to make it rain whenever nothing is falling because the EDWS RNG is not on my side, but it is inconvenient, it breaks my immersion more than having permanent rain/snow, and it takes many seconds to appear after casting, by that time I have already traveled a long distance unchallenged under a boring uneventful weather. I could use the rain-only or snow only versions but I am not sure that they would both work at the same time. It already impresses me that you were able to set specific weathers to each region in a non-instanced continent, I thank for that touch. I hope that if you still visit this site, you can overkill it and just remove the clear states.
Doesn't work for me, basic mods installed, locked up my pc. Tried my backup clean copy with just this mod, crashes upon loading game.never been able to get it to work.
I have to say, yours is the best weather mod for skyrim, all other weather mods feel like some kind of overlay located directly around the char and not the worldspace, immersion breaking when you step forward and the snowflakes or raindrops move forward with you, e.g.; supreme storms, your does not have that fake feeling and draws me right into the game, when a storm starts (using more rain and more snow too) I just have to stop and take it all in lololl, love the mod, endorsed and kudos. thank you Zapoo.
I am using your 'always sunny' version and I am super thrilled. I have teamed it with the immersive saturation mod and I have bright and sunny beautiful places to be. Thank you so much for sharing this mod and all the hard work you must have put into it!
this mod does not 'break town names' .I use this with 238 other plugins and it works fine. Jk skyrim works with this. You have other issues if your game is that screwy. Download only the file under MAIN FILES. ignore all the old versions.
I was hoping someone else would take this mod and improve it. The other weather mod only prevents rain and snow from clipping if the objects are static (aka roof of a house that was there from vanilla, if you placed a tent, the rain and snow will clip through it because it didn't detect it before.)
When I install this mod Whiterun's name is changed to Blancherive. It is possible that other towns have the same issue, though I've not checked. How can I fix this if at all?
