    Version 0.6 is up!

    - Adds an MCM menu with various options
    - Adds a non wearable token (craftable under Misc items), looks like a flute
    - Option to invite a follower to ride through dialogue, a spell, or a popup menu in addition to the tokens. Enable desired options in MCM to use! Dialogue is permanent, the spell invite lasts 60 seconds.
    - Option to have female followers ride sidesaddle.
    - Option to ride behind your follower
    - Fixes issue with mod not working after turning into a werewolf and back

    Run FNIS after your upgrade!

am I the only one who wants to have a follower shoot stuff with arrows, like Zelda did during the Ganondorf fight in twighlight princess?

that would be some tedious works, and maybe some complete different script. i have the idea to put invisible horse for follower that locked slightly behind pc and follows player when mounted, so they can shoot arrows and battle, but i think the script would be too heavy.

That sounds like a reasonable idea that might actually be completely possible

while i like the concept of this mod the thing that puts me off using it is 1 of the "requirements" aka having (again) to rely on that BS SkyUI i dont like SkyUI it isnt a mod that work with "basic" / "classic" skyrim it works for the SE version becausde it was made to fix a load of issues that version came with. if there could be a version without the SkyUI requirement that would be better for those of us that dont use it

I hope someone will help: Lydia doesn't sit, she just stands on the horse. Faendal even refuses to hop on. I don't know what the heck I'm supposed to do, no tutorial or forum has been of any help. I downloaded everything as requested but stuff just won't work.
I can't even see any option in the mod menu. It's all blank.
I don't have the legendary or special edition, if that helps.

Been a while since this post was made, but I thought I'd spend a little time to provide a very basic, generalized guide to using this mod. It's the responsibility of anyone following my little guide to do their due diligence regarding the tools and mods that I'll be mentioning, and thus I bear no responsibility for any mishaps that might occur from following this.

      Spoiler:
      Show
      1) First, make a new save before adding anything to your game, in an interior location with nothing going on (preferably somewhere like "coc qasmoke", perhaps). Now make sure you have SKSE installed properly, and use its new launcher to run the game from here on out (via the mod manager; see below).

      2) Next, get a mod manager. I recommend Mod Organizer (MO), portable version, and install it in your Skyrim installation folder. I have the best and most experience with MO, so I'll assume you're using it from here on out. Make sure to always run it as admin, which in my experience can't be done when launching it through Steam's "Add Non-Steam Game" feature, so just launch the mod manager manually (as admin).

      3) Now install FNIS but do it manually (outside of MO), because it has its own executable that you'll need to be using whenever you add or remove mods that need animation compatibility patches made. If you don't run it, followers will float over the horse rather than use their new animations. To be honest, I'm not too sure what FNIS does exactly, or where, and I don't like it too much because of those abstractions, but there's no way around it afaik, when mods say they require it.

      4) In Mod Organizer, learn how to add executables and add the new game launcher that SKSE made (called skse_loader.exe). Then add the executable for FNIS in the same way. This will allow you to take advantage of MO's virtualization features which, theoretically, keeps your Skyrim installation from getting its files borked by mods.

      5) Now use your manager to install SkyUI if you haven't already. This lets you access the MCM options. Install Ride Sharing afterwards.

6a) This is the last step, but it's the one that I'm personally hesitant to take because I saw that Ride Sharing uses scripts, which combined with FNIS's magical hidden bullcrap has left me with bad experiences. I said that MO theoretically keeps your Skyrim install safe, but when I was installing a different mod that needed FNIS to patch it, and which came with its own scripts, I found that my game broke without the mod enabled in MO, even after I removed its files and ran FNIS afterwards. My conclusion was that the mod's scripts, combined with the unknown bullcrap that FNIS performs, essentially baked the mod's scripts as dependencies into my game somehow. I don't know, I just know that even with every mod disabled, I couldn't even get to the main menu unless the FNIS-dependent mod was enabled.

I say all this to say that I haven't used Ride Sharing, I'm not sure I will, and I can't guarantee that MO will keep your own game installation secure, so you proceed at your own risk. If you want to go ahead and try it, what I would normally do now is run the FNIS executable via MO, let it make its patch, run the game, and then load my save and test the mod thoroughly.

6b) If it all works, that's great; if not, what I would normally do with this specific mod is remove it entirely (not just disable), run FNIS again to theoretically undo its patches, then load the save game I made before installing Ride Sharing, and everything should hopefully be back to its prior state.

This mod suddenly stopped working for me, I'm not sure what happened? I give my followers the horse medallion and they just refuse to get on the horse. :( Not sure if it's connected to Nether's Follower Framework or not (it's the newest mod I added) but even after disabling all mount related stuff in the mcm I can't get ride sharing to work again. Bummer.

      - I found out what was causing it. :)

NFF's companion horses (default setting) messed it up. After turning it off in the MCM then re-installing this mod, Ride Sharing worked again!

Wanted to add, love using this mod with Lucien! He says he always falls off horses, so Ride Sharing's little errors make it fun/lore-accurate lol.

So it works with Lucien you say? Even though he ends up with his own mount?

It does :) I like to use it with him before he gets his horse, it takes me forever to work up the desire to go to Solstheim tbh lol

This mod would nice if the follower wasn't constantly jittering around as it is currently, it's cool for screenshots but totally unusable because of the follower jitter, I just can't trust it to be stable jittering like that. Really cool idea though.

They jitter because they are having fun.

Current ver. 0.6 doesn't work real well, The first follower you get, Lydia, Just stands on the back of the horse jittering the whole time and then occasionally will get left behind floating in the air.
Love the idea, if you can get it to behave correctly i will definitely use it.
Also if you keep riding when lydia  is left behind eventually the game will crash because of the mod

I have ported the latest LE version of this mod for use in Skyrim Special Edition and seems to be working like a charm. This mod has open permissions so I have posted the file here: https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrimspecialedition/mods/75327/?tab=description
