Installed with NMM and I got two esp files installed: "A & P weight change only", and "Axe and Pickaxe weight". I imagine each is for one choice, weight only or with the damage increase. But since they were installed automatically, never gave me a choice, I wonder if I have to do something like remove one? BTW in game right now I see lowered weight, normal damage.

I work on the premise that each unit of weight is equivalent to around 80 grams based on the untrained human nominal load bearing capacity around 16kg. Looking at the Roman theme, which is prominent in the portrayal of Tamriel's Imperial culture, it would be a fair call to pin the unit down to the Roman Teruncius - which is one quarter of a Libra (i.e. Roman pound), and weighs 82.2 grams in modern S.I. units. A good starting point for acquiring leads into the literature might be:

If you've got the patience and the interest...

I, too, have used mattocks, picks and axes and I, too, consider these implements lighter and much more dangerous than portrayed in the game. Without running off to weigh my geopick, I have to say that I agree with your plug-in's design.
    .
And, BTW, if real life forced me to choose between defending myself with a battle-axe and defending myself with a wood-cutter's axe - I'd choose the wood-cutter's axe every time. It's not so much that a wood-cutter's axe would do more damage than a battle-axe. Maybe it wouldn't. But, unlike the battle-axe, a woodcutter's axe is designed to find the critical strike almost every time - at least in a stationary target. So I reckon that the critical hit chance via a wood-cutter's axe is always going to be much higher than any war or battle-axe (which were designed with other things in mind).
    .
If you find this increased critical hit probability interesting, Valdr's Lucky Dagger (dunMossMotherValdrDagger) seems to operate along these lines.

    Good Luck

A quarter pound to 100g works when you consider the weight of eggs, actually.

Actually, according to some math I did (too boring to explain here), the weight unit in Skyrim would be almost exactly 105 grams, what would make the picks and axes in vanilla actually UNDERweighted. Yet, it seems every other item is quite off in its weight, anyway ... (c'mon, 6 kg in a full suit of steel plate armor ?! )

I would choose the battle axe. I own a reproduction Norse battleaxe and have spent many days using a woodcutter's axe and while either would be serviceable in a pinch, the battleaxe has two things going for it:

    1. Longer reach, which besides its obvious advantage also imparts greater momentum for the axehead.

    2. A smaller cutting edge, which means more penetration power for a given momentum.

Just a friendly reminder to everyone - after installing this mod, you can further tweak any item's weight you want from inside the game using another mod called Customizable Weights.

Installed this over a year ago and recently wondered why pickaxes do more damage than what seems like 90% of the swords in my game. Time to switch esps.
    Thanks for this great mod.

This kind of mods are actually the essential ones. Small mods but useful mods nonetheless.
    Kudos, mate!

Thanks for this. I was looking for something like this. I found it weird that a solid metal sword weighed less than a simple axe. :/

I was looking for a mod that completely removed the weight of pickaxes entirely but that is a little too much I guess. Thanks for this! Now my sneaky little hotty does not have to lug around 10 friggin pounds worth of ore chopper.
