- fixed a stupid copy-paste mistake with one talking activator (rejoice, Molag Bal has been banished back to Coldharbour and is no longer answering the door in Ratway) - fixed a bunch of inconsistencies in capitalization and possessives ending on "s" (English is a Frankensteinian language, prove me wrong) - shortened one location name so it doesn't get potentially cut off (Ruined Priory of the Holy Brothers of Marukh -> Holy Brothers of Marukh Priory) - added prefix "Alessian" to all Ebony armor and weapons used in act 4 (consistency fix) - made some PC lines more assertive (no more sounding like an indecisive wimp during a certain argument, among other things) - made Berserk dialogue reference in Act of Mercy path of Act 1 clearer ("... I'm ready, whenever you are.") - a certain character is now alternating between I and royal We pronouns, as originally intended (no, it's not Molag Bal, it's someone far worse ... if you know, you know)
- translation revision - books brought in line with Glenmoril (those that appear in both mods) - typo fixes - some renaming of gear, NPCs and locations for better consistency - restored warning about Orlando (was apparently added in the recent update and my translation tool didn't pick up on it ... sorry about that, but still, if you fall for Orlando, you only have yourself to blame) - lore check for anatomancer's lines
... all shall be redeemed under the Blue Star.
NOTE: Any mod or patch relying on English translation will need to be updated, otherwise you will be left with old text (before revision) for the items it changes. Minor incompatibility that won't break anything, it just won't look as intended.
NOTE 2: Silent translation has revised NPC dialogue while voiced version does not (for consistency with subtitles and VA). You can mix silent and voiced version plugins if you want to see how badly I screwed up some NPC lines before (it's not that bad, I swear). When revoicing happens, silent translation will be used as basis.
Version 3.2
- updated for VIGILANT 1.6.2 - translated new content - corrected some stupidites (like Sister's Husband -> is now correctly Steward ... what on Nirn even was that stupidity)
Version 3.1
- updated for VIGILANT 1.6.0 - translated new content - added in the spliced voiced files for vanilla NPCs that mysteriously got mixed up with custom ones previously
Version 3.0
- finally rebuilt the additional plugin that prevents NPCs from switching between their vanilla and custom voices - no more awkward voice jumping, rejoice (you better be happy, this took way too much time)! - Andurs, Keerava, Elda Early-Dawn and Jorleif (vanilla NPCs) now have their lines made up of spliced vanilla lines (less translation accurate, but also less jarring) - Reyda now sounds like an actual evil witch/hagraven (kindly voiced by Purgey) - Orlando the Knowledgeable now has a voice, too (also kindly voiced by Purgey) - some volume tweaks for certain scene specific lines (bad flames, Molag Bal shouldn't be drowned out by your crackling!)
Version 2.5
- updated for VIGILANT 1.5.2 - renamed Guardian of the Wasteland -> Wasteland Guardian (and accordingly, everything related to it) (less of a mouthful) - renamed Witch Hunter's X -> Witch Hunter X (consistency with other faction armors/weapons) - renamed every instance of Church -> Chapel (more consistent with lore - places of worship for the Divines are called chapels or temples) - renamed Cemetery of the Church of Arkay -> Chapel of Arkay Cemetery (less of a mouthful) - renamed Bedroom of the Mad King -> Mad King's Bedroom (less of a mouthful) - renamed Village of Mitta -> Mitta Village - renamed Village of Tele -> Tele Village - renamed every instance of bloodcurse -> blood curse (consistency) - renamed every instance of Hound of Varla -> Varla's Hound - renamed Captain Spania -> Scamp Captain (how did this happen again, he used to be a Scamp Captain before!) - renamed a stray Orland -> Orlando (consistency) - double checked UESP wiki and The Imperial Library for the new books added from ESO
- LIST OF THOSE NEW BOOKS: - The Archimonk's Dream - The Song-Never-Sung-at-Twilight - The Forty-Third Praise Song of Alessia (if you for some reason still think the Alessians being absolutely bonkers is a Vigilant only thing ... you're so very wrong) - The Exclusionary Mandates - The Illusion of Death - The Remnant of Light (and in case you also thought a fake Tower/Stone is a Vigilant only thing ... go play Rivenspire arc in ESO) - On the Detachment of the Sheath from the Integument (or how to break reality while doing questionable things to Mnemoli ... and nope, this isn't a Glenmoril only thing, either - see, told you it was lore-friendly) - Vindication for the Dragon Break - The Whithering of Delodiil (a little bit about the cities of Abagarlas and Delodiil) - The Library of Dusk: Rare Books (did you know there are libraries in Coldharbour, too?) - A Life of Strife and Struggle - I was Summoned by a Mortal (best in-game book ever and you can't convince me otherwise) - Chaotic Creatia: The Azure Plasm (don't drink the ... water ... in Coldharbour) - Aurbic Enigma 4: The Elden Tree (Towers are stupidly important whether you like it or not) - Ayleid Survivals in Valenwood (so you can stop wondering just why in Oblivion is there an Ayleid walking around) - The Devouring of Gil-Var-Delle (yes, that's Gilverdale) - The Book of the Great Tree - Tower of Adamant (Adamantine, Direnni Tower, Ada-Mantia, Ur-Tower, however you want to call the first Tower) - Once - Ayleid Inscriptions Translated - Before the Ages of Man: The Merethic Era (pretty decent summary of what is known about the Merethic Era, but written by an elf ... and full of little inacurracies you may not even spot) - Before the Ages of Man: The Dawn Era (same as above, and Khajiiti writings at least will tell you a very different story, at least the pre-Rid-Thar-ri'Datta ones ... and they may not be wrong) - The Spawn of Molag Bal - On the Nature of Coldharbour - The Battle of Glenumbria Moors
- and what about those two books about Molag's dragon experiments/creation of the Titans (Daedra Dossier: The Titans) and fire atronachs breaking one of Molag Bal's artworks and being exiled for it (Daedra Dossier: Cold-Flame Atronach), hmm, Vicn? - don't think for a moment I'm done with renaming stuff just yet - I have a full translation check and rework planned - can't decide whether to translate Ayleid names or not (probably not) -> Sancremor Tower is a nice flipped White-Gold Tower (Dark-Gold Tower) - don't trust Meridia - ҉don't̕ ̛t̵r͝u̕s͠t̷ Or̕l͝a̧ndo - ḑ͟o̴ņ̀҉'t̸͡ ́͟t̀rưs̷̸͟t̶̢̧ ̀t̶h̵͝e͘ ͞O͘w̨͘l̀s͏̢ - t̴͜͟h̷͝i̷̡͡s̢̡͟ ̴͡͡͞i҉̕͟͞s̢͘ ͟҉͘͟a̛̕҉̢l̀l̛̕ ̵̨f̸̢ǫ̢̀͞r̢̡̡͠͝ ̵̛́́͠y̛҉̧o̧u̸̷̧̡
Version 2.4
Updated for VIGILANT 1.5.0.
Version 2.3
- updated for VIGILANT 1.4.8 - renamed Orland to Orlando for consistency with GLENMORIL - renamed Hidden Cave of the Followers of Mara to Hidden Cave of Mara's Followers (thanks for bringing my attention to the really too long name, Astakos!) - added some corrections to some of the books (thanks, a123999!)
Version 2.2
Updated for VIGILANT 1.4.5.
Version 2.0
VIGILANT Voiced has been reworked from the ground up and with Vicn's permission now includes a patch that fixes NPCs jumping between their custom voices and generic vanilla ones.
Features of Vigilant Voiced.esp patch: - changed vanilla voice types to custom ones so NPCs will now speak in their custom voice only -> no more random generic vanilla lines - rewritten custom merchant and follower functionality, because the above feature broke the vanilla one (yes, this means scripts, but they are very small and run only when you select a dialogue option that leads to a follower or merchant service ... which is precisely what happens for vanilla functionality in the base game too, by the way) - that said, you're still only allowed ONE follower at the time (to avoid potential issues with their functionality breaking if they die, they will also be essential while they follow you - if you really feel the need to kill them, dismiss them first or just don't recruit them and if you tamper with these settings on your own, you do so at your own risk and no support will be provided if you screw up -> bug-free gameplay takes precedence before immersion) - audio output override set to SOMDialogue2D for some scenes so the NPCs will be heard loud and clear over all the potential chaos around them -> flames have now submitted to the will of lord Molag Bal and will no longer try to be louder than him (bad flames!) - all of these features make this patch incompatible with anything but English translation of VIGILANT -> see FAQ on description page or in the included Readme file for more info
Changes to Vigilant.esp (English translation): - fixed a missing word in the subtitle for one of Sir Amiel's lines - Sand Runner -> Thunderbug - Captain Spania -> Scamp Captain (I have no idea how this one fell through before, because I'm sure I already fixed it for one version)
Changes to sound files: - adjusted the volume for some sound files (example: Alessia was too quiet in Marukh's memory) - swapped Molag Bal's narration lines in Pelinal's bad karma scene for the alternate version - added sound files for basic follower and merchant functionality (no more vanilla voices)
Added a very basic guide in .txt format to Optional Files. Keep in mind this is not a comprehensive guide and that the full one with images, all secrets found and explanations is still in the works. This should suffice until then. Dropped support for uncompressed wav version of sound files. There is no noticeable quality difference between wav and fuz and I have so many versions of the addon already it's getting a pain to keep it all organized.
Unless a serious bug is found in the near future, I will consider this version of VIGILANT Voiced addon final.
Version 1.7.3
- updated for VIGILANT 1.7.3 - added missing MCM translation files to silent translation - restored Chef Jumps-Over-River -> Master Chef River Jumper, since he's not an Argonian and is apparently actually the head of the kitchen
Version 1.7.2.c
- updated for VIGILANT 1.7.2c
Version 1.7.2
VIGILANT TRANSLATION CHANGELOG - updated for version 1.7.2 - reverted Nirn's Origin Ring -> Nir's Origin Ring (back to original) - renamed Chef River Jumper -> Chef Jumps-Over-River (closer to in-world naming conventions) - reverted everything related to Naarifin -> Narfin (back to how it was a while ago before I decided to see connections where there were none - sorry, my bad) - renamed Nemesis -> Pitier (the original Japanese literally says "one who sends down pity" ... English is just terrible sometimes and has no good one-word-synonyms) - a few other corrections and tweaks to some dialogue (Pale Feet, Anatomancer and the Pipers should be just a little more understandable now ... still, good luck figuring out their gibberish on the first try)
VIGILANT VOICED CHANGELOG - carried over new boss tweaks from the main mod where needed -> get ready to be curbstomped, now for real
Version 1.7.1-reupload2
- restored missing plugin (I'll just go facepalm into the next century now)
Version 1.7.1-reupload
NO CHANGES FROM 1.7.1, THIS IS JUST A REUPLOAD BECAUSE NEXUS REFUSES TO CACHE THE FILE PROPERLY.
- updated for Vigilant 1.7.1 - fixed one Errant-Knight into more consistently named Knight-Errant - renamed activator Atone -> Absolve (because it's not you doing the atoning; rather, you're absolving the NPC) - renamed Mo (short form for Morihaus) -> Mor (used in Song of Pelinal)
Version 1.7.1
- updated for Vigilant 1.7.1 - fixed one Errant-Knight into more consistently named Knight-Errant - renamed activator Atone -> Absolve (because it's not you doing the atoning; rather, you're absolving the NPC) - renamed Mo (short form for Morihaus) -> Mor (used in Song of Pelinal)
Version 1.7.0
- updated translation and voiced addon for Vigilant 1.7.0 - re-translated a strange line in the dialogue with Molag Bal during Marukh's flashback, hopefully for good - thanks, Mistflower, Xavbio and Mr Wizard! - renamed some rings and misc items for better consistency with other similar items - fixed M'zaq's Note - will now actually display text instead of boxes (M'zaq's Smudged Note II, if you're using Book Covers mod for Vigilant -> needs to be updated to include this fix) - fixed weird spacing in Slave Trader's Note 8 (Book Covers mod for Vigilant needs to be updated to include this fix)
NOTE 1: From now on, the same translation file will be used in both silent and voiced version. This may result in some inconsistency between what the NPCs are saying (voiced) and what the subtitles are saying. Sorry, but keeping up two different versions of translation file is becoming impossible ... immersion be damned. Will be fixed once the entire trilogy is finished and voiced.
NOTE 2: I am reverting mod versioning back to the same one as the original mod so that it's obvious at a glance which Vigilant version the translation supports. Your mod managers may complain a bit. Sorry.
Version 1.5
Updated for VIGILANT 1.2.2.
As before, no changes to sound files, so if you just want to update quickly, download the Translation Only file from Optional Files.
Version 1.4
Updated for VIGILANT 1.2.0.
And a few minor changes to translation:
- [name] of Laza -> [name] the Witch Hunter (new naming convention in VIGILANT 1.2.0) - Dark Kid -> Dark Young (restored, because apparently this is a shout-out to Lovecraft and the EDID Shoggoth should have really told me everything. Iä! Shub-Niggurath! The Black Goat of the Woods with a Thousand Young! ... Ahem. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shub-Niggurath) - Roly-Poly Ja'bal (book) -> Humpty-Dumpty Ja'bal (because it's clearly a hint to Humpty Dumpty with all the weirdness about eggs and why did I think Roly-Poly was ok)
And that's it, I think. You should have no problems with updating, but considering that version 1.2.0 of VIGILANT dropped SKSE requirement and brought a lot of bug fixes, you should still keep your old save files somewhere. Just in case.
And just like before - there were no changes to sound files, so if you know what you're doing and don't feel like downloading the whole pack again, you can just download the Translation Only file from the Optional Files section and install it over the existing Vigilant.esp file.
Version 1.3
- minor corrections to translated text - renamed some items for better consistency - Narfin -> Naarifin - Maram -> Slaughterer Maram (more Dark Souls-y feel) - Ebony Knight -> Summoner's Mercenary (there's only one Ebony Knight and this one is not him) - ...
There should be no issues with updating mid-game. All of the changes are really minor and they really only bothered me, so if you're fine with the translation as it was in 1.2 version, there's no need to update. Just keep in mind that when the guide will be released, it will be based on this (1.3) version.
There were no changes to the audio files. If you want to update, don't feel like downloading everything again and know what you're doing, you can download the Translation only file from the Optional Files section and install it over your existing installation (just overwrite Vigilant.esp).
Version 1.2
- updated included translated ESP file for VIGILANT 1.1.0
Version 1.1
- fixed the issue with NPCs' lines being louder than vanilla lines - restored 2 missing sound files to FUZ version - fixed some of Altano's lines sounding uneven
VIGILANT. An amazing quest mod made by Vicn, requiring the player to join the Vigilants of Stendarr and help them keep Skyrim safe from the influence of malevolent forces ... and then a certain Daedric Prince takes a very personal interest in the newest member of the Vigilants.
Up until some time ago, you could play this mod only partially translated into English. But you waited and eventually, an English translation was complete. Something was still missing, though.
All the characters were silent.
But now ... we have a solution for you. The mod before you is an English voice acting addon for Vigilant, brought to you by 23 incredibly talented voice actors and the author of the latest English translation. Every single character you will meet during your journey as a Vigilant of Stendarr is now voiced and waiting to talk to you.
We hope you will enjoy this addon.
NOTE: With recent updates to VIGILANT (1.6.0+), this addon no longer covers every character in the mod. They will be voiced at a later date, after Vicn finalizes his work. Thank you for understanding.
Characters that are currently not voiced (enable subtitles for those):
Spoiler:
Show
- Anton the Brilliant (follower of Meridia during The Eye of Madness and Thus Spoke Khajiit) - Mar'so (during the alternate resolution of Thus Spoke Khajiit) - Carene and Lillian during an alternate resolution of Ivarstead witches (Art of Mercy) - Thorondir following the alternate resolution of Ivarstead witches (Art of Mercy) - Chick Trader (during one radiant quest) - Gwyneth (only lines about the anatomancer directing you to the epilogue/The Sacred Anatomancer) - Sacred Anatomancer/Pale Feet (prisoner in the Temple of Stendarr, in Coldharbour and during the epilogue/The Sacred Anatomancer) - Pipers (during the evil path of the epilogue/The Sacred Anatomancer) - Belharza (found in Coldharbour if you explore a bit, and no, I don't mean the flashback after Varla) - Saklas the Man-Ape (in Coldharbour, in the starting village inside Heretic's House) - Bandit Kanra (in Coldharbour, in the starting village inside Bandit Kanra's Lair) - all the Minotaurs (Temple of Stendarr and Minotaur Village during the Legacy of Belharza)
A warning for those who absolutely MUST do whatever the NPC tells you to do and then complain on reddit:
IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH OF THE MOD, DO NOT LISTEN TO ORLANDO. DO NOT DO WHAT HE WANTS AT ANY POINT. IGNORE HIM. DON'T EVEN TALK TO TO HIM IF YOU KNOW YOU HAVE NO SELF-CONTROL AND ABSOLUTELY MUST DO WHATEVER AN NPC TELLS YOU TO DO. YOU'LL REGRET IT.
See below or the sticky on why.
Our addon is now available for the Special Edition of Skyrim as well!
Q: Is this a full mod? A: No. This is just sound files and a translated .esp and patch file. You still need the original Vigilant mod for all the meshes, textures, etc.
Q: Do I need a separate translation file for this? A: No. The latest English .esp file is included. You only need the original Vigilant mod and its requirements.
Q: I don't like some of the voices. A: No one says you have to. And that's not a question. In any case, if you really hate the voiced version so much, there is a text only English translation available in the Optional Files section.
Q: I did what Orlando told me and now I'm stuck in some wasteland. What's going on? How do I get back to Skyrim? A: *sigh* By reloading to a previous save, BEFORE you did what he told you to do. And then you ignore him. And maybe read VIGILANT's description page. To make this very clear: doing what Orlando tells you to will SKIP the entire story and land you right in the finale.
IF THIS IS YOUR FIRST PLAYTHROUGH OF THE MOD, IGNORE ORLANDO. I REPEAT, IGNORE HIM. DO NOT DO WHAT HE WANTS YOU TO DO AT ANY POINT.
Q: I'm desperately stuck in-game and really need some help. A: There is now a very basic guide in .txt format available in the Optional Files section as well. It's not a full guide, but it will have to suffice until I finish the comprehensive version.
What you absolutely need, no exceptions whatsoever:
latest version of Skyrim + Dawnguard and Dragonborn DLCs (or Legendary Edition)
install with your mod manager of choice or manually unzip the files to your Skyrim Data folder
let it overwrite existing Vigilant.esm (you need to do this, otherwise you won't get the translated text and you'll end up with the dreaded rectangles everywhere)
activate the mod and sort your load order with LOOT or manually if you know what you're doing (Vigilant Voiced.esp needs to come after Vigilant.esm, obviously)
play
