So over a year later I've finally gotten off my behind and uploaded a no perk tree version of this tweak, while I will still personally prefer the version with the perk on the perk tree, I do understand that people use perk overhauls and this was the easiest way I could make the tweak compatible with them.
The new book is crafted at the aetherium forge, taking 1 ruined book, aetherium ingot, dwarven metal ingot and dragon scale. The recipe only appears once the player has 125 smithing and the dragon smithing perk.
The book acts like a spellbook, reading it grants the perk.
Note that I did not test this version of the mod, so let me know if it works(once it's gone through the whole virus scan thing), sharing a screenshot of the book recipe for example and learning the perk.
I do believe I've set it all up correctly, but let me know if I missed something in that version.
If only this didnt add a perk to the perk tree and thus conflict with mods like perma and ordinator I would jump on this, the renewable sources is a great change, but unfortunately I cant use it. Would anyone be willing to make a compatibility patch?
Though I see a book giving the perk kinda counters the point of getting 125 smithing, I wanted to give perks like daedric smithing and dragon smithing a chance in my playthrough rather then skipping straight to aetherium equipment, and since I am a user of the uncapper I made it a perk that takes 125 smithing, I'm sure someone else could easilly add the perk to the trees of perma or ordinator, but I will not do it as I don't use any perk overhauls like those.
Feel free to give the new no perk tree version a try, I didn't test it myself as I didn't want to mess up the perk trees in my skyrim.
(I've actually been having fun making my own perks for my skyrim instead of using perk overhauls, personal use though so I won't be uploading it, it's too messy anyway.)
For those who don't like the lack of compatibility, just add the perk via console and remove a few dragon souls as a cost. Load it BEFORE your perk overhaul.
noooooooo i use skyre .. Thanks anyway for these great tweaks. They sound absolutely fantastic. please someone who know's how to mod (i barely have time to play and mod skyrim let alone learn how to mod myself) if you make it compatible with skyre pleease let us know lbs.
Welchdrew have you thought about making the perk requirements dwarven smithing and dragonbone smithing to increase compatibility? also maybe increasing the amount of required atherium? Maybe those would be a good alternative to the new perk to increase compatibility. ?
Making it Dwarven + Dragon smithing would bring back the problem of players skipping dragonbone equipment, since once they have dragonbone smithing they could just go straight to the aetherium forge and make aetherium equipment, the 125 smithing requirement means having a 25 smithing level gap which is plenty of time to give dragon equipment some screentime.
Oh i agree the 125 smithing requirement is an excellent idea. And yea i didn't know you couldn't add a smithing level as a standalone requirement for creating something :/ . I'm just tryna to figure out how to tweak this amazingness u made juuuust enough to use it with skyre. perk overhauls are a mainstay for me and so many others.
Is it possible to remove the perk through Tes5Edit? If so can someone give instructions? I'm willing to do it and upload it with the mod authors permission
So I figured out where all the perk stuff is in Tes5Edit, but I'm not sure what would happen if I simply deleted all the records. I can literally just delete the perk and then the records in each piece of equipment, but I don't know if thats all there is to it.
same got errors everywhere on the original mod page anyway I'm not interested, who doesn't use a perk overhaul in 2017 ? if you do you are mad, get sperg if you want to play jack-of-all-trades (less perks but more synergies between skills) get ordinator if you play a specific class hero (more perks but you need to focus on one gameplay type)
page du mod original est buguée ou l'auteur a retiré les liens (probablement un bug) link of original mod page is full of bugs or the author doesn't want it downloaded (probably a bug)

Personally I would replace the perk tree change with a book that gives the perk.
