So I had downloaded this one a long while back, didn't remember it until I came back to it and explored it again.
I like all the little details, some pretty nice ones here, will get back to that. Not liking the houses along the walls, never cared for this when I see houses going halfway through an outer wall, break immersion for me, on the plus side, these houses don't have inside cells nor NPCs so an easy thing to remove what I don't like (I've already disabled all of the houses along the walls at the writing of this). Have mixed feelings regarding the stacking of houses here, while it does allow for fitting more houses, the stacking thing doesn't quite work for Whiterun as it does for Riften, and as other Whiterun mods have proven, there's still plenty of room here with the right positioning and spacing of houses that stacking isn't necessary, though if the place were truly filled, these would make it all the more interesting. But the way I see it, Whiterun is on a tundra, houses flat on the ground fit the scene better.
Because I am playing on Special Edition I am having a lot of extra plants added by the Update, as well as by the Unofficial Patch, so that Well-Kept House on the outside don't look so well-kept, nor everywhere else, but is to be expected when going from oldrim to SSE, making this version of Whiterun more of a mess, something I will eventually remedy myself since I use a lot of oldrim mods and this has always been a problem with many mods.
I had a whole bunch of guards trying to get some refreshments outside the Bannered Mare but they kept walking into the fence, and some were standing in fenced in yards confused.
Things I liked : The well outside of Warmaidens, the fencing outside of Belethor's and Arcadia's stores, the chicken coop and extra firewood outside of the Bannered Mare along with the huge mead barrel behind the place and other extra supply barrels and crates, and the refreshment area, the little houses near Heimskr's house fit right in next to his, the firepit behind Jorvaskr, the rooftop of the Hall of the Dead, and the extra graves especially that one in that nook along the wall (but I have a floating banner, need to figure out what is missing), the pretty pink tree outside of Dragonsreach, Battleborn's outside sitting area, the various fenced in yards, and still more stuff, so there is much I like about this Whiterun, I just don't care for the stacked houses here (again, personal taste and one that I can modify to my own liking while keeping what I do like). Oh, and the little questing to get the player home and the criminal activity with the Kingpin's lair, gave me a little something extra to do.
I found 2 hidden key, still haven't found what they are for, maybe will soon. Anyway, one more to go, Solitude.
Great work. I know others have commented, but if someone would add interiors (maybe make them many shops, since Whiterun is supposed to be the trading hub), that would just make it even more epic. The extra buildings and decorations do make it much lovelier, and I'm actually glad it doesn't add NPCs walking around. Tracking and endorsed.
I love your laconic attitude. "Ya, maybe, get lost. Do it yerself. You did it for you. thanks for sharing. Going to try it and give it a whirl. Have a great day
edit. had a lot of laughs reading the comments ;-)
I love this mod. I've used JK's Skyrim ever since I've had the ability to download mods, but Whiterun still felt a bit empty to me building wise. It's supposed to be a massive city, full of trade and people. Even though this mod technically makes places of Whiterun feel compact with new buildings, it also makes it feel bigger than it was. The new buildings are great, I honestly don't mind not being able to open them, and I can now justify that the NPC's added by other mods have "homes." I have a pretty mid-level computer, but only noticed about 5-8 FPS drop in some compacted areas.
My only qualm with the mod is that sometimes the NPC's get stuck and walk into buildings awkwardly until they teleport to where they need to be.This is mostly noticeable when Belethor's assistant finishes chopping wood and gets stuck. Other than that, if anyone is on the fence about downloading it, give it a go!
Edit: After reading all of the comments, it seems like the NPC issue may be related to Immersive Citizens and not a Navmesh.
Follow-up: As I mentioned, I have a mid-level computer. Only after adding JKSkyrim and Dawn of Whiterun did I notice a severe FPS drop (about 20-30 frames in the Marketplace.) Unfortunately I'll have to uninstall for now, but once I get some new computer upgrades I'll be sure to re-download this first thing.
I added like... five. Mods that put a bunch of trees in Whiterun are a pet peeve of mine. Sometimes they can look nice, but it's a tundra. There's not a whole lot going on, tree-wise. You're welcome to put some in if you want, but I make my mods for myself, so I'm probably not going to do it.

It adds trees, and makes Whiterun more filled with life :)
