Version 3 looks like you nailed it. Looks good from the pic. You should think about doing this for all guards. I think it would get much more attention. Since it can use guard armor retextures, I believe a lot more users would be inclined to use this mod. Just my 2 cents and thanks for the update.
The new female version looks perfect now, but the male pauldrons still seem a little too high above the shoulder IMO. If you look at the images side by side, you can see how high the male pauldrons seem. Kind of like football shoulder pads. Anyways thanks for your efforts. People will appreciate it. Great update. Keep it up.

Yeah, part of the reason is the weird shape of the vanilla guard armor the other is that i did bend the shape a bit inwards during the process and reshaping them would have made the textures look weird. I'm quite happy with the result though.
@TheBxushis: Yes, there is female. Stated in description. You can easily figure it out by clicking the magnifying glass next to the file (This will show content of zip file). Under the mesh files you will see files with f in them, meaning female version. (pauldron_f_1.nif).
@kelretu: I have to agree that the pauldrons look way to big for my taste. But, if your happy with it, then that's all that matters. Maybe, someone with similar tastes like mine can shrink them and put out another version. I know I can't do it. Anyways, they are very nice and thanks for sharing.
If the pauldrons and armor are one piece, you don't need to assign a bodypart to them; they're all just 32 - Body. Unless you mean they're two separate pieces that you combined in CK? Sorry if I misunderstood what you said in the description.
Personally I like big pauldrons, but maybe they need bigger gloves to off-set them
