After a very long time of attempting to skip the main quest, I have learned most of the skip main quest mods, keeps you out from certain areas like Helgen, and the main quest never disappears, so any incremental change to the main quest, accidental or otherwise, usually results in a CTD.
This mod is incredibly clean in its approach, and the main quest remains intact, which is ideal. Attempting to skip the main quest entirely is still not 100% possible without staying away from places that can advance the main quest. Completing the main quest in ~ 8 hours is a better option than attempting to skip the entire main quest with unforeseen issues.
Took me long enough to convince myself that completing the main quest is the only option, and this mod is perfect for that.
Thanks for the nice mod, I will use it on my next playthrough. :)
UPDATE: I am on my next playthrough, and mod is incredibly seamless. I noticed the look of the Nord to be slightly different from other skip quest mods, and its perfect. Specifically, his face, looks a little slimmer and younger, and I much appreciate the default look. 11/10!
With some starter mods, when you change your race/sex in the character creation menu, it puts your character in a pose like his/her hands are tied (like they would be if you started normally).
If you want to not look like your hands are tied while in the character creation menu or when using showracemenu later in the game, add this to your Skyrim.ini .
Apologies for the necro, but... Jumping once clears the animation for the rest of the playthrough. Unless you again change your race and/or sex in which case you'll need to jump again. Or, one can fiddle with an .ini file, as suggested. Either way works.
And again, after a number of years and reinstalls of Oldrim, Dime's Quickstart is still the best at what it does. Can I endorse this again?
I've noticed a "side effect" of this mod. Several mod's worth of items that had not been making it into the levelled lists, are after using this. Stuff I've never seen before on mobs is appearing with regularity. There's been a very slight increase in CTDs, but such things are part of modding Skyrim. I cannot reccomend this mod enough. It just works.
To me, this is the only quick start mod that ever mattered. It gets everything right: it's plain and simple, just skips the damn helgen sequence, and gets you started for the journey as dragonborn without unnecessary ceremony.
A special "thank you" for fixing the helgen sound script issue. I just quick-started a new game and the issue is indeed gone from the logs!
I've got an issue in my papyrus logs though:
[04/30/2017 - 08:30:35PM] ERROR: (000E6D69): cannot start scene because its parent quest was not running. stack: [ (000E6D69)].SF_MQ101TorriLedgeScene_000E6D69.start() - "<native>" Line ? [MQ101 (0003372B)].Dime_Quickstart_MQ101.Fragment_29() - "Dime_Quickstart_MQ101.psc" Line 733
I have no idea if this is harmful or not. It does not impact the functionality of the mod, or my game, as far as I can tell.
Emphatically seconded! Since my Helgen opening sequence is more then a little fubar due to a whopping pile o' mods, this mod is a godsend. Should be on a lot more top-10 lists.
I noticed this as well. I just opened up toaDime's esp in CK, and deleted the armor gag from Ulfric's inventory. I did it to the main version, and the main quest version. The civil war version of Ulfric didn't have the gag in his inventory. While in there, I changed one of thier outfits from "UlfricPrisoner" to the normal Ulfric outfit. That way he'll also display his gauntlets correctly instead of wearing prisoner cuffs. I hope it helps!

Papyrus logs like this don't meet my standards...
