I agree with most of your posts, its a very good idea. I hope you do expand the number of things that can be made from ivory. If you're open to more suggestions - many of the things should also be craft-able from silver, gold, malachite, ebony, etc.; or even combinations of ivory and these materials. Good work. I'll be back to endorse on my next play-through.
Nice idea. I will take a closer look. Horker or even mammoth tusk scrimshaw (could just be simple swirl patterns or something more elaborate) would be a realistic mid-value decorative item. It could be similar to the patterns the giants put on mammoth tusks.
Some good items for retexturing when you get the hang of it: Jewelry, plates, cups and utensils were common as were horns. definitelu tracking this for when I start playing again
I too have wondered WHY one would hoard mammoth ivory...I do remember there was a mod that had a lot of gem stones you could make all kinds of weapons and armor with. One of the ingredients was horker tusk Ivory! It all sounded great however it took MONTHS of collecting stones and ivory to make just one item. I do agree one should not get "instant gratification" but too much work for so little results doesnt make one a happy camper! HOPEFULLY you will be able to come up with some really useful item the shops would sell and most important one one would buy! Ivory is a rather "soft" material so as a weapon it would only be good for the hilt! pretty much the same with armor. It would make nice decoration on your armor or some sort of presentation/ceremonial weapon. Please no "ivory toothpicks" much to impractical! I do think the idea is a very valid one...therefore I endorse it
What about Arrow shafts with whatever your chosen tip and flights, perhaps upper class furniture/furniture embellishments, chests and Jewellery boxes, picture frames... all of these would need a re-tex though!
