This mod has been live for a week with no reported bugs! Thanks to the 275 brave modders who have downloaded it so far, and major kudos to the original artists stoverjm and Blary.
I've made some tweaks to the drop rate, and I believe that this mod has now reached its final form. Enjoy, and check out NarrativeLoot - Paintings for more! (Link on main page)
Only thing to report is that books in the inventory appear upside down. I have to rotate them to at least see the images correctly. Other than that, well done mod. Voted and Endorsed
Unfortunately this visual quirk can't be helped without a major overhaul of how the vanilla scripts work for books.
The rotation of the inventory mesh is set to show the book properly, right-side up when "read", although this causes it to appear upside-down when viewed in the inventory item viewer. I could set it to appear right-side up in the inventory viewer, but then it would appear upside-down when read, which is no better.
This irked me too, but I chose the lesser of two evils and am satisfied with the result. We will have to swing the books around a bit to get a good inventory view.
Found my first book and it works perfectly. For lazy people like me that don't like reading too many of the in-game books it makes the skill books much more interesting.
Two quick things - Are you planning on more books If not can you reconsider your skill choices some? There some skills missing and it's really heavy on a couple of others.
I've considered but feel it would be best not to, since the skills chosen best represent the looks of the books.
Of 26 books, the doubled-up skills are 4 in Conjuration, 3 Destruction, 3 Speechcraft, 2 Alchemy, 2 Restoration, 2 Smithing. The remaining 8 teach unique skills for a total breadth of 14 out of Skyrim's 18 total skills.
Most of the books that teach Conjuration and Destruction are within the Rare books category, and so they are only dropped by warlocks and vampires who would be likely to have more of such books.
While it would be cool to cover Archery, Block, Pickpocket, and One-Handed, there are no books within the Open Books Library that depict those skills.

Love the idea BTW!
