    v1.2 FINISHED

    What's New:
-gold map added to 3 areas of Skyrim (1 clue / note added in-game)
-mesh name changed for full compatibility with Equip-able Maps
    -supplemental note / clue re-written
-silver marker that was slightly off fixed

    v1.3 will:
-add orichalcum map - and add side-quest involving Orsimer.
-add more pathways for finding gold and silver maps (without making them too easy to find)
-perhaps adding option to purchase map
-add more spots to gold + silver ore (may include less abundant areas)

    v1.5 will:
-add comprehensive mineral maps for a few holds (and deviously..)

For the seriously impatient, see spoiler on Description Page for clues regarding whereabouts of maps (and if you're even more lore unfriendly than that, console commands to spawn the maps into your inventory). Though my recommendation is to install and forget it's there.

These are really good. Is there any chance that other kinds of ore deposits could be made into maps. Perhaps not iron, since its so common, but stuff like corundum and mythril.

This is such a fantastic idea, I really love it! I can't wait to go hunting for these. :D

Thanks ! Silver and Gold are in there. Orichalcum will be added next. And while I suppose most people don't care as much about that one, I'm in the process of adding a quest that makes that map itself a bonus.

Nice to see that you completed this project. Good job.
If you ever plan to expand to other ores, I suggest you use 1 map and colour code the different ore locations.

Thanks man ! Consolidation on one map would certainly make things easier for the player and for the mod maker himself. I did, however, like having to conjure a reasonable explanation about why there would even be a silver map itself in the game-world and then placing these maps accordingly. What I may do is to keep the silver map as it is (and located where they are in-game), but then also add a map with all of the ore locations as you suggest.

It would make sense for Jarls to have maps detailing all resources on their holds, and maybe Tullius and Ulfric would have complete maps of Skyrim's resources. Although if you implement those, would it be possible for you to make it so that acquiring them is not easy?

@rainyteacup - I hadn't even considered handling this on a per hold basis, but it makes sense. Great idea. And I agree that some of these maps--particularly ones that show all resource locations--need to be placed in a way that reflects their value in the world--ie., they should be difficult to get. Having them be placed like this but allowing the player have an idea about where these maps are--that will be my next challenge.

I agree that it is unlikely to have a map with all the resources for skyrim, since each hold should be seeking to protect knowledge of its more important resources, but it makes since for each major hold to have such a map somewhere - likely in the jarl's possession (or that of a close advisor to the jarl).

Perhaps each hold can have a map of (color-coded) resource locations, but if you get all of the hold maps you can use them to craft a single skyrim map.

@BrinaSair - Thanks for the great idea--that would absolutely work alongside what I had in mind.

What a great idea! Thank you. Tracking for now, but I love mods that add such immersion and synergy.

Good to hear from you--thanks ! The plan is to develop this mod to include more mineral locations. Then I think I'll make a separate mod that will apply this approach more broadly.

Another approach is to mark the mines, as you find them, using this mod:

I noticed that one in my quick perusal before making this mod but thought that it is still useful to be able to have an idea of where to find them before you've visited.

are you aware of the 'transmute ore' spell?
It's in the Halted Streams iron mine.

Then you'd still need iron ore and considering how vanilla smithing is, still a pain to get.
It's a lot more common ofc, but the way smithing worked in skyrim was pretty annoying. It was a true grindfest.

I'd also add that I don't use magic at all in my playthroughs--so I would personally still find the map useful in-game. I totally understand, though, that most don't play as I do. This at least provides another option for another play-style.
