I'm on an alienware m17 r3 gaming laptonp and i think i'm having the problem where nothing happens when i hit control +f4 because Dell decided to remap all the goddamn key functions on this custom prebuilt laptop. I'm unfortunately left with task at figuring out how the hell i can remap these key functions or figure out how these lunatics mapped there keys. I tried creating a macro in the alienware control center but that didn't go so well. Jesus techies really piss me off sometimes with their nuanced horsesh*t techniques for setting things up
Below is a link to the solution. Apparently having the "actor" category has to be selected and the character properly navagated to in the left pane for the functions to work. I stand by my comment about techies being nuanced...
Ever since I built a new PC with windows 10 (pro) Skyrim has been a god damn nightmare. Now I'm dealing with Creation Kit not wanting to export facegendata. Yes, I'm selecting the proper tree and while I get the two popup messages after pressing ctrl+F4 no meshes and texture folder appear in my data folder. It doesn't matter if I do it through MO or directly running CK from the Skyrims folder where SKSE is. It will not export the facegendata.
i got a question... i'm trying to create my own follower based on a preset and i've successfully gotten the follower in the game with all the correct settings how ever she appears normal in the render window but in game she has the correct skin but my custom hair isn't taking effect and shes got a brown face... also in the CK i'm getting this error both before and after i try to export the data... textures: femalehead.nif : femalehead is missing a facegen tint map the files in my textures are just white files and an standard image. I load up the meshes in Nif and everything looks fine but everything like eyes and hair are pink... i tryed doing the ctrl-f4 and exporting the facegen data but its still having the same problem... any ideaS?
Thank you for this! I was filtering for delphine and it wouldnt work that way, so manually finding them in the actors section the way you showed the other way worked. :D
when i do the ctl f4 thing it only seems to work about half the time. it always states that it's exporting it, and it always does make the nif and/or mesh files, but often my dds' will be messed up. looking at them in GIMP shows they're borked. kinda looks like they're only partially finished. and ingame, those failed dds' will have the npc with the weird lines around the forehead. again, about half the time exporting facegen works fine. other half not any ideas?
I believe this is due to larger than default tintmask textures.
When planning to export from CK, cut & paste your tintmask texture folder to your desktop or somewhere similar, export, then place the folder back where it belongs.
^^ what fiendishghoul said. CK can't handle large or high definition textures so disable all those mods before loading CK. I usually disable my makeup mods which includes tintmasks and the like. Then load CK and after you're done, just enable them again.

So, to provide a concrete example for anyone else, here is an example using Uthgerd from Whiterun:
INCORRECT:
CORRECT:
textures: femalehead.nif : femalehead is missing a facegen tint map
the files in my textures are just white files and an standard image.

oh this is on SSE
any ideas?

IIRC, that should do the trick.
