IF YOU EXPERIENCE ANY ISSUES with this mod, please make sure you have followed standard troubleshooting procedures for Skyrim before asking for help. I cannot promise support for any of my mods unless you BEGIN A BUG REPORT in the "bugs" tab of this page.
If you submit a report, please explain the issue as carefully as possible, and provide exact steps required - preferably from the start of a new game - to reliably reproduce the issue. If I'm unable to reproduce the problem, it's less likely that I will be able to help solve it.
ALL OF MY MODS are dedicated to the PUBLIC DOMAIN. This means that NO PERMISSION IS NECESSARY to reproduce them all or in part in any way you wish. Keep in mind that some mods that include content by other authors may or may not require their permission. Also consider that uploading new versions of any mod will probably imbue you with plenty of support requests from the community, and handling them can be a large responsibility.
My activity as a Skyrim mod author has decreased greatly over the months and years, and it is unlikely that new features will be added to any of them, so if you are interested in officially taking over authorship of this or any of my projects, feel free to contact me.
wish I saw this mod before I saw the terrible one that toggles with the activate button... on that guy's mod people are telling him the thing is toggling while picking items up and he is like "that can't be, I took great pains to make sure" … he is one of those kind of people, so instead of accepting reality he just talks about how skilled a coder he is lol... tried to ask him a question and he snapped at me, stuff like that puts me in a bad mood even if it online and anonymous... oh well im glad I can use this mod now... if all goes well I shall endorse
edit: this mod is perfect! endorsed... I recognize your name from gta iv enb haha
Changing the button through the console doesn't work, even though "help doubletapkeycode" returns "doubletapkeycode = whatever". Maybe because the script is already running.
Also would like a variable for the actual walk speed, if possible. Still too fast for me.
Thank you for this great mod. I wasn't sure what to expect, but this worked very well. I would warn future users before double clicking the right bumper, turn off / detach any power you have attached to the right bumper. You will end up using whatever is attached. You don't want to toggle walk and shout a guard accidentally.
well, i love this so far, but there are 2 things i could use a little help on. first, i would much rather have the toggle button be the left bumper which is the sprint key, but cannot get it to work. i used "set doubletapkeycode to 273" as posted on the main page, but it did not work, so set it back to default 275 and now it works. the link you gave to find the key values doesn't take you where it is supposed to anymore lol and after about an hour and a half digging through the site, have still been unable to find the key codes. second, i wouldn't mind the walk while toggled to be a little slower. i'd do it myself, but have no idea how to go about it lol. any tips or suggestions on either would be helpful. thanks again
I've always played with a joypad and if I want to walk instead of run I simply push the analogue stick a little, if I want to go faster I push it a little further, jog a little further etc etc.
Having superior control over the movement of our character is (IMO) one of the main benefits of playing with a gamepad. Creating a run/walk toggle is a step backwards in functionality, unless I'm completely misunderstanding what this mod does?
Also, the right bumper is the shout button on the 360 controller. This sounds like my xpadder profile for Morrowind, where I double tap the joystick to run. But that's for a game without native gamepad support.
This creates two tiers of walking speed. The analogue stick still acts as a fine-tuned way of moving around. You still get your "superior control" in addition to being able to limit your running speed.
Basically, sometimes I want to walk slowly through an area without having to use my thumb muscles to make sure I'm only pressing the stick ever so slightly in the direction I want to go in. WalkToggle makes that possible.
The joystick still has fine analog control over your speed, with or without the toggle on. With the toggle on, your top speed is limited to a fast walk. This is actually something I've been wanting for 4 years, a way to limit myself to a walk speed while in 1st person.
You'll want to unready any shout or power you might have on your right bumper, of course. That's generally a good idea anyway.
Excuse my bluntness but can I make a request? If it is at all possible, could you make walking the default when the game starts and make the toggle go to run mode instead of vice versa? I want to walk by default but have to go into the menu, hit caps lock or the kèy you assigned for controller twice, which is amazing btw that you made it possible, then exit the menu and use the toggle again to set walking as default for my gaming session. Problem being I have to do that every single time I load the game

Would you consider creating a version that uses the same walk speed you get when using the toggle on the keyboard, please?
Or explaining what do we need to change? I tried messing with the scripts a bit, but nothing changed.

(for Shardoom and anyone else reading)

Endorsed as soon as it'll let me.
Cool idea. :)
(May have been a better idea to have the toggle be the left bumper instead)

Are you playing with a keyboard or a controller?
