Ah...Wish I'd read a little closer when I installed the mod. I totally kitted out Lakeview Manor and couldn't figure out why I wasn't getting the dialog to rent it out. I guess this means I finally have to visit one of the other major cities.
Hmm. I'll have to try this out later. Ill have to disagree a few suggestions that have been made: 1. Don't lock dragonborn out the homes. That's illegal. Landlords are always supposed to have access to the homes. They just aren't supposed to enter unannounced. DB enters alot homes in Skyrim unannounced so why have a different standard here. 2. Let the housecarls stay in the homes. It is not uncommon for a landlord to hire a tenant to act as a property manager. When I was in college I lived in 2 story home that was completely rented out to tenants and those that lived on the main floor acted as the property manager (collected rent, cleaned up the property, reported issues at the house to landlord). Not only should the housecarls get free room and board but DB should also pay them a stipend. 3. Dont reinvent the wheel with NPCs. There are several NPC (random) generators out there. Piggyback off one of those mods and grab you tenants from their selection.
There's a real estate mod that is available so there is something you may be able to there to rent out custom mod homes.
nah all 3 of shadohz idea's and suggestions are pretty good. locking player character out of house is weird and unecessary and potentially buggy. just role play and dont go in if your crib is rented out 2. generally good idea 3. obviously a good idea
I installed this mod first, had 2 of my houses rented then installed Imperial Mail. The money doesn't appear to go straight to my bank account. I still have to go to the stewards to collect the income.
I tried stopping the rent, made a clean save then placed my house up for rent again. No changes.
Yes! Omigersh! Yes! I was just looking at this Landlord mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/72610/?), but it doesn't touch renting out houses. These two mods combined! I think explosions just went off in my head. I also use this tax mod (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/65519/?). I set it up as 2% of the total (base house plus furnishings) per month. This will allow me to finally give my unused homes to someone who will use it and help pay for it. I don't do cheating, so I have it set up so that once I have bought the house, I will forever pay taxes on it. This is great.
Are you still working on plans for this mod?
P.S. How does this not have more downloads??? I find it really weird to have a thousand houses all over Skyrim, and they sit unused until I decide to move into a different one.
Just an idea (I'm sure somebody else has already suggested it) - would it be possible to add compatibility to some existing modded player homes (i.e. make them rentable as well)? Definitely for the most popular ones, of course.
Or perhaps make a more dynamic system - players manually set doors they have keys to specific cells as being rented out, therefore giving the player complete freedom in how they deal with their estates?

There's a lot to do though, so it's going to be a long while before it'll be ready for release. If something's worth doing, it's worth doing right.
Just to note: I'm still working on this mod.
I work on other smaller mods in the meantime because big mods can get overwhelming sometimes.

EDIT
Got my answer in the desc.
Thanks.
