About this mod

Makes it so all houses become abandoned after their occupants die. So, you can have them! After all, why do dead people need houses?

Demonstration of the mod, with Heimskr as our test subject. Please watch this.

With this mod active, every time you enter a house it will check if the people who live there are still alive.
If they're not, then the house and usually everything in it will be released from ownership, including the beds.

This means you can sleep and wait in the empty house, and take most things without the "stolen" flag being applied.

Note that some NPCs may be listed as an occupant in multiple houses, and some houses may have occupants that spend very little or no time in the house. Or, if it's a shop, there may be an NPC that will take over if the main shopkeeper dies, and they may be listed as an occupant as well.

This mod affects all houses with less than 5 occupants in all the cities and towns of skyrim.

Note that some houses will have occupants that can't be killed, such as Essential people and children. You'll need additional mods to be able to kill them.

Most houses will probably respawn their contents after a certain number of days of you not returning, this mod does nothing to fix that, however I will include a ESP(NoRespawnHouses.esp) that will make all the houses eligible for "abandoning" not respawn. However, this may make shops not respawn their stock or gold as well. It's optional.

Or, use the mod Dynamic Things - Enhanced to make certain containers not respawn.

If you notice that all the occupants of a house are dead, yet the house is still owned, then exit the house, save and reload, then try again. If it's still owned, let me know in the comments here.

If the house is "abandoned" before all the occupants are dead, I'd appreciate it if you reported it here as well.

Here's a list of houses that you can have if their single, non-essential occupant dies.
