Considering that this mod and 'Smart Training - Tweaked' don't edit the same files or scripts (as far as I can tell, at least), I imagine the two would play nice together.
i want the trainers without levelxp and skillxp. what would the line in skse read like ? Why? i play it that an available perk point is unavailable until you take a lesson from the trainer of that tree. so if you want to put a perk point in two handed, go to vilkas and take a lesson. therefore it would be good if the old way trainer works are completely gone. the price for the lesson should depend on the skill you put the perk in. should go to 100. i am looking for someone who can make a mod out of it. woould you ?
Uhhm... It boosts the XP to approximately the same percentage full as it was at the previous level. Otherwise, you are not gaining 1 skill point's worth of skill. This mod actually lessens the amount of skill you gain. If you use it for that last little bit, you just made a collosal waste of money. It doesn't show it right away because of some visual glitching, but if you check in your skill menu after a round at a trainer, the bar is back at where it was (approximately) before the round of training.
It means the skill did improve by one bar's worth. It filled in the rest of the bar to the increment point, and then refilled the bar past that to where it approximately was before.
If you need to achieve 1,000 points to complete a skill level, you are paying the trainer for 1,000 points. If you had already gained 250 points, then you have 250 points toward the next level after training. If you use this mod, rather than paying for 1,000 points, you are paying for 750 points (but probably still paying the 1,000 point rate?). Therefore, if you had gained 900 points already, then training becomes a colossal waste of money with this mod.
Investigated and the training menu shows wrong. If you close training menu and reopen you will see you have same or higher % as before. Same thing happens in perk menu, if you look there you see have higher % than 0.
Even if you train multiple skill points in a row, still you have the %, training menu is lying.
Just to make sure I tried this, got my illusion skill at 99%, then trained multiple times. Opened perk menu and it was still 99% just several skill points higher.
Okay, this whole comment thread has gotten me confused: Was the complaint here about the mod doing what it's supposed to (Preventing NPC trainers from granting you XP towards your next level), or about some glitch with it?
I don't really think its a matter of not wanting to level up per se, but more a matter of what is subjectively a valid way to level up. 'They' gave people the tools, and some of those people decided they didn't like how 'they' did it in the first place. It's just a matter of choice.
Yeah it's difficult to explain. I think that if you pay NPC and you get a levelup then you didn't earn it, also the training limit kind of loses it's purpose if you can just levelup using the training.
Wow cool. And there are some ideas for you to proceed. I hope you find it interessting:
- No XP from skillbooks
- Let the player choose, which skill gets XP (improves level) and which does't That means, I can choose, blacksmithing and alchemy for example do not level up my pc (and the whole world).
I really like your idea for skillbooks, that would be a great addition as well.
xyzman, if you have Elys uncapper, you can go to the /plugins folder, go to the uncapper.ini file, and change these settings yourself. This is precisely what I have done.
First, download this mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1175/?
Second, open the file "SKSE_Elys_Uncapper.ini" in notepad.
Third, hit ctrl F and look for a section called [PCLevelSkillExpMults], and you can alter the values according to how much xp for your level you want to gain. If you like you can copy/paste my personal settings:
As you can see by the "0" settings, in my game Alchemy, Enchanting, Lockpicking, Pickpocket, Smithing and Speech are all skills which will *not* contribute to my overall level progress when I use those skills and gain a skill point.
It makes leveling slower, and makes it harder to "cheat" the leveling system by spamming enchanting, alchemy, etc. Also I believe it's more realistic (i.e. why would I gain more health and get "stronger" by picking someone's pocket or by sweet-talking someone out of their septims?).
Nice touch! I have the uncapper .ini set to remove level xp from all non-combat skills as well (lockpick, sneak, speech etc) so that leveling is much more challenging. This will be a very nice addition to that.

I don't know why it does this.

so this mod basically gives you the opportunity to make you more powerful compared to final opponents (like alduin or the ebony warrior)
And there are some ideas for you to proceed.

The last point would be great.

Anyway good luck.
That seems to be, what I was looking for.
So only the skillbooks are an option to add here, if meh321 likes it :-)
Thanks for sharing your work!
