This may make me look stupid, but does this affect the scrolls added by Elemental Magic? I really want to use this mod, but Elemental Magic is a must-use for me.
Scrolls being weaker because no magicka use was stupid as hell. Even on a completely vanilla game, if you're using offensive spells, you'll fire off at least 10 to down one of the higher level dragons. So you're running around collecting scrolls all the time while Magicka *regenerates*.
Yes, the right balance for me would be: 1. Much more powerful than spells for each mage level (novice, master, etc). 2. Rare to find, expensive to buy, a proper size of soulgem requirement plus level regulation for crafting. 3. They consume/require high amounts of magicka for casting. 4. A bit faster casting animation, not instant but not dancing, or do the complete dance with slow motion for the surrounding.
Hmm. I've never had both that scroll and a pressing need for that scroll at the same time, so I have no idea if that's vanilla either. I'll look into it.
Edit: Tes5Edit says I change that one. This may in fact be my fault. It also says I made the area 0 for some reason. I've fixed that in my version, and once I've determined if that fixes the self paralyzing, I'll upload the new one.
First off, this is an awesome mod. Thank you. A lot of people play with the Unofficial Skyrim Legendary Edition Patch (USLEEP). Any problems moving some records over from that into your mod in TES5EDIT? Your Base Cost (yellow entry) is really different but I am guessing this is required for your mod or is it safe to move this over from USLEEP? I was planning on moving the values in red over to your mod to also have the USLEEP changes. Here is a pic of the conflicting values:
Thank you calling that to my attention. I hadn't checked if it overwrote anything in any of the Unofficial Patches, and I don't use USLEEP because I'm too lazy to upgrade. Terrible modding practices, I know. My bad. I'll look into that. Looking at just that one screenshot, I'm wondering if I should make it the master, since it adds some effects I didn't. Mind you, I made these fixes somewhere between late night and early morning, so that might have been an intentional design choice for all I remember. The cost is going to be off on every scroll I had to change because I left auto-calculate on. Fortunately, because it's a scroll and not a spell, you can safely do whatever you like with the cost and I am 99% certain that won't change any practical data at all. You probably want to keep the magnitude from my mod, but every other factor should be fine. Looking at which records are affected, I think what happened was that USLEEP added perk effects, like respite, master of the mind, and mage armor to scrolls. I intentionally didn't, because I've come up with some internally consistent headcanon about the mechanics of spells versus scrolls to refer to for my mods; however, if you're making a merged patch, it's your call whether the USLEEP changes stay or not. I'll see about uploading a version that already has those changes, and then it shouldn't conflict nearly as much with any of the Unofficial Patches. The other thing that appears to have changed is that in vanilla, a lot of reanimation scrolls use the novice effect at different magnitudes, and whereas USLEEP makes it the appropriate level effect, I just boost the magnitude. Theoretically it doesn't matter if you change the effect as long as you remember to leave the magnitude.
TLDR: Any changes USLEEP makes look like they can stay, as long as you keep my effect magnitudes.
EDIT: Reading my inane, sleep-deprived description, it looks like I left secondary effects off intentionally, but it's your call which you do. Far be it from me to tell you how to play Skyrim.
Thanks for updating the area of effect on Mass Paralysis. While moving over some USLEEP values (not your magnitude), I noticed a few more with 0 area of effect:
Frenzy 15 Mayhem 250 Hysteria 250 Grand Healing 15

No but seriously why did it take 5 years for someone to make this mod, this was needed, thanks.
