If you didn't notice I said at the end of my last statement that what I said only mattered if he cared for realism. If he doesn't then he can do whatever he wants. It's called constructive criticism. People only have to take it for what they want. Not like I'm going to stalk him and force him to make it realistic.
ah fantasy swords where you can do anyth... oh...wait...acording to these assholes you cant do fantasy swords anyway you want. they have to conform to some ridiculous real life standard now?
My criticism is going to agree with myounage somewhat here. The grove (hi), or blood groove (bo-hi) as some call it, should be closer to the back of the sword. Your katana does seem to lack a hamon (the discolored uneven wave-like line along the blade from the forging process) though that may be in part due to the amount of glare and the position of the hi (if there is one). The diamonds (ito) on the handle (tsuka) are a bit too large for the size of the handle, that or they used silk or some other thin fabric for this one. The diamonds themselves should be a bit smaller. They can be uneven but tend to be more even than you've shown.
That being said, Your blade color is a lot cleaner than the original, making it look more like a practical ceremonial sword that is well taken care of. Something that an order like the blades should be carrying considering their importance. The gold guard (tsuba) follows the same lines in that regard. I think I like the pommel of the original better for the design though so you may want to try going back to that. Your color choices are great for a ceremonial weapon.
All in all, you are doing well, but you probably want to tweak it if you're picky about realism. Try googling some katana, battle ready ones. If you're not that picky, no big deal.
BTW I am also a sword collector. Three battle ready katana and one battle ready 14th century english hand an a half sword replica.
Myounage, Its just a retexture, calm the hell down. mrelderscrolls, I agree but that is not the Skyrim logo, its actually the seal of the imperial palace

Now my katana looks like Dragon Sword from Ninja Gaiden :3
And for the record, I didn't know about the swords groove, the vanilla texture also had it centered.

Stay classy community.
That being said, the original's steel is pretty dark. I prefer his whiter shade despite the aforementioned authenticity issues.

Awesome retexture! Keep it up!
