I have a strange bug that is caused by these meshes. (Took years to notice, because I've been modding more than actually playing)
I manually replaced chest01 with the ruins_smallchest mesh. Looks good... However, merchant chests clip through the floor with their lids broken off sometimes. (screenshot) It's like they aren't loading in the cell properly. Screenshot is of a usleep patched chest, but I've found it affecting ALL chests normally hidden under the floor i.e. untouched vanilla merchant chests, mod added chests, and patched ones.
Also, all bandit chests are missing! They don't load at all, not clipped into the geometry anywhere I could find. I made a test mod that replaces only bandit chest meshes and they reappear. No mods are touching them otherwise and they were using the basic chest01 without my test mod. (screenshot)
Hi Look like you messed up your save file. The first one happens if you do not do a clean install, and the second picture is not a chest from my mod - it is from the mod's "better chests". By installing or de-installing mods in a running game your save file gets corrupted, there is no way to correct this. Start a new game and see if this clitch is persisting. CL
This is not a save issue, it affect new games. Has absolutely nothing to do with adding or removing mods. I have no mods changing the chests, just the mesh is replaced.
HI Why is it confusing? The esp is required because of the way Bethesda was setting up these crates and barrels with a texture set for snow cover. If you leave the esp away, don't complain later that textures are messed up. So yes, this is a bit more complicated than just "replacing stuff". CL
Saw in this in Epic Nate's videos and realized I needed it. This is such an oft overlooked aspect of the game but also one that is very important, as we players interact with it more than almost any other item in the game. Great model, thanks for making it!
Hi, I really like your textures but im not sure if its compatible with Animated Clutter https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/48287?tab=files, since both changes barrel nif, i dont want to mess with it since finally my game its stable (more or less) but if you tell me that its not risk just not to overwrite, ill try it.
Hi and thank you No, all the meshes are low poly and some are even smaller in count than the vanilla once. Also texture are more stress for your system as polygon's - you have options to install low resolution textures.
Thank you very much for your fast reply, now i have a problem with my configuration. I have a model of chest "textures \ clutter \ ruins \ ruinschest" this chest only show in nordic ruins but your model overwritte my chest. Any idea of how solve this?
EDIT: I have knowledge about tes5edit in case it can help but i do not see how to solve it
Hi This mod does not overwrite any vanilla texture, just to clarify. I assume the mesh you are referring is the ruins-smallchest.nif which is not exclusive to find in ruins but also in the wilderness and other locations (this mod does not overwrite the large ruins chest). if you do not want this specific mesh to show up (which is used 275times in various locations) just simply delete the mesh from data/meshes/clutter/ruins/ruins-smallchest.nif - the game-engine will than use the original out of the bsa file or place your chest of your choosing there with the same name. Hi the ""wrong textures" are most likely all the dirty and snow covered chest's this happen through mod conflict as another mod overwrites the alternative texture sets check with sseedit which mod overwrites the CL BarrelsCratesChests.esp
hi, i noticed that a chest in Shroud Hearth Barrow it's...well, not there. it's in the room directly opposite to the double gate with a spike trap (the one that, when you pull the chain, opens a gate then triggers the spikes and then opens the second gate). the chest is trapped but you can only see the tripwire attached to nothing. is this because of this mod or the problem is elswhere?
Hi thanks for reporting but the Barrel and Crate.esp does not make any changes (no dirty edits) in Shroud Hearth Barrow, I just checked so your issue must be from a different mod - dirty edits?!

Look like you messed up your save file. The first one happens if you do not do a clean install, and the second picture is not a chest from my mod - it is from the mod's "better chests".

I have no mods changing the chests, just the mesh is replaced.
And just a mesh replacement can still affect your save file, it is not that simple.
