A very nice idea, i love places like this one.
I mean, you fight the orcs or bandits, clean the place, so why not stay a while there. And the place is beautiful, with the rocks in the back, the forest around, anyway a region i love lot.
Unfortunately my follower are less happy. They want stay, and don't accept it as home. Tried using my home is your home mod, but no, the seem unable recognize it as home. Also the spell don't work. I think it's not realy a player-home for the game.
I use now for my current game the mod "live anywhere - constructible shacks". This allow me to add in a easy way all funiture i would need and wish. So i added the missing smelther, a chest near the enchantingtable, and two bedrolls near the fire outside (i'll post you some pics to show).

It's a beautiful place to stay in the nature, many thanks sharing your idea and mod !

EDIT: Yes! Can use Bannered Mare after selling firewood to inn keeper. Can use large bed for free; containers in room are safe. (Even though items may turn red, they are not actually stolen.)

EDIT: Just began a new play through. Looks like cannot use Bannered Mare (containers, beds) until probably after befriend inn keeper by selling firewood. Will see...as soon as I come across an wood axe.

In a post below I mentioned the Bannered Mare as having many non-respawning containers but items may turn red. After further inspection, and googling, it turns out that although your items may be red, they are not actually stolen when retrieved. Plus the upstairs bed next to Saddias room is useable and gives a well rested bonus (sack is unsafe). And selling firewood to the inn keeper allows you to use the main bed for free (room contains safe containers.)

Best place to sort and store loot would be the several sacks - all safe - under the stairs opposite the entrance.

So it looks like the Bannered Mare could be the ultimate free home? Many safe containers (one should use the CK to check), a great downstairs kitchen, lots of company...and downtown Whiterun in the middle of Skyrim. What could be better? Hmmm....

I hope you build this out more and make it truly into a full on player home with all safe storage. I don't think it will impact the game if you set the boss chest to no respawn. Seen other mods do it and it don't seem to cause an issue.

I did not want to get into the interior of the Keep just yet. May do so in the future.

I have you first/other mod and have found it very useful, and after some time it is part of my playthru's because of how it is this looks like it will become as good and useful to me and my game style as the first one AND have some questions/ideas first this isn't a "normal" orc fort the style isn't theirs BUT they have taken it over seemingly for quite some time. SOOOO maybe they DID build a smelter BECAUSE they (orcs) ALWAYS do it IS who they are, culturally and racially. SO maybe you could add one outside? also are you hinting at building/adding some fields for crops? a corral? THAT would be cool and also in line of taking it over as a home as in "clean up and improve/expand maybe a project to rebuild or repair some of the structure like a tower or 2 (the south tower would be ideal for a spot to put the smelter? ) just a thought also if your looking for ideas for the next place how about that fort south of dawnstar and just south east of the vigilant's destroyed headquarters? sits across the main road and has an INN inside and plenty of room both sides north/south for crops and east for an orchard like how I volunteer ya? just kidding I have my eye to build that mod when I get good enoughAND Thanks a lot for this one will DL and use it next playthru Good Job again

Hi again and I'm glad you're getting some use from my first mod. I also like it, as the ruined Whiterun Farm House is typically my first location when starting a new playthrough (and I do that quite a lot.)

I like houses and house mods as much as anyone, and I've tested alot. But I've always had the notion that I'd like to try playing without any house, per se. Usable beds and bed rolls (even inns) are pretty obvious when we come across them, but knowing what containers are safe is something else entirely. I was passing through Riverwood today and the thought hit me of living at the camp of bedrolls and cooking spit just outside the gate. Close to smithing and merchants. But what containers, if any, are safe? (May try looking someday soon, and I recall reading somewhere that the Riverwood Trader MAY have a safe container after befriending. Perhaps same thing with Alvor?)

Anyway, Cracked Tusk Keep has ALOT of safe containers (one only needs to know the relatively few unsafe ones.) So potentially this place can be like my first mod: a place to store one's loot while looking for the ultimate house. Even without my mod here, it conveniently comes with some smithing/crafting.

It also has those six bed rolls you were asking about with my first mod.

I think you mean Ft. Dunstad? Could be an idea to use it...if it has safe containers. Don't know that I'd want to build into it though.

I like to think that someday maybe I could learn enough to rebuild the Keep. That would be nice. Smelter, crops, livestock are an idea for perhaps later.

Anyway, people often ask about safe container locations. Well, the Keep here has plenty even in its original state!

PS: Before my Keep mod here I got excited seeing that most of the containers in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun are set as non-respawing. But it turned out that they were not safe, since much of the loot one places into them turns red, making them stolen goods when retrieved. Too bad: I thought I found the ultimate, non-house location! (I've also been able to use a bed in there for free.)
