CLICK HERE for a similar mod that does not require any hair mods; it gets rid of beast-faced vampires but only uses vanilla assets.

    Don't ask for a non-Dawnguard or non-Apachii version!

HOW TO USE THIS WITH OTHER NPC MODS:

Facegen files determine both the shape and color of an NPC's head. Plugin files (.esp) determine the shape and color of an NPC's body.

That means the .esp that gives an NPC a new look has to perfectly align with their facegen data to avoid mismatches. The two always need to be from the same mod.

You are free to decide whether you want to use the look from this mod or another for named NPC's. I mostly included them for people who DON'T use other NPC overhauls.

To continue using another mod for the look of named NPC's, say no when my mod asks to overwrite, then load their .esp AFTER mine.

To use the look of named NPC's from Hott Vampires, let my mod overwrite, and load my .esp after theirs.

    * Generally speaking, only ONE plugin can affect any single NPC! *
You can't usually "mix and match" two mods that affect the same NPC. Any other mod that changes vampires can conflict with this. Even a vampire mod that doesn't change their appearance has the potential to conflict!

This IS totally compatible with mods that don't edit NPC records! Safe to use with such greats as Better Vampires and Serana Dialogue Overhaul, which work without touching character records.

If you see mismatched heads after installing Hott Vampires, it's most likely a mod conflict!

Install order and load order are both crucial to making this work.

If in doubt, let this mod overwrite ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING!

Activating the mod somehow makes harkon transform into floating vampire lord king armor when he tried to demonstrate me his powers.
I was in awe to say the least.

That’s what he is supposed to do originally as far as I know. It’s not something I changed, but it is weirdly easy to break and I had to figure out how not to break it. It could be you had another mod that interfered with his transformation and that this fixed it. Hard to say!

I have around 200 mods enabled, and that's only because I made an effort to stop myself from adding more since as you can tell I'm on LE, and I'm only still here for the achievements.
So chances are something in my mod list maybe conflicted with your mod in a way undetectable by MO that breaks Harkon's transformation somehow.
This is just for your information, maybe you can make use of this at some point to fix something. My own transformation was completely unaffected. I started out as a female character, and the transformation went as normal. I went into console and used the sexchange command on myself, and everything looks good too; I know that's really not the best way to test things out, but from that I know the meshes and the textures the player use have no problem.
I did look into the Dawnguard files, and seems like Harkon does not use a body mesh unique to him in VL form.
I installed one of those big tiddy VL mods for tests and giggles, and that changed nothing, well, I did get a bigger pair of you know what.
I unpacked the DG bsa and created a mod in MO with VL textures and meshes, because I read somewhere while trying to solve this, that sometimes the game somehow has the mesh file empty, that also did nothing.
I made a new profile in MO, with only mods in the essential group that I install with every profile active, when hotter vampire mod is activated, harkon is still invisible in VL form with floating armor. Here is the link to the modlist I used for testing. As far as I know, no mod changes anything about VL stuff. Also tried to disable every mod, except alternate start, hotter vamps, and usleep, harkon was still a flaoting armor when i load in, then I crashed probs cuz I disabled so many mods at once.
I will make another test that's clean, using only usleep and alternate start and hotter again, and post here once I'm done testing
Also tried to look into the creation kit and see maybe I can find the Actor of Harkon in VL form, unfortunately my experiences with creationkit is very limited, and could not find what I was looking for, only found Harkon NPC in human form.

I do believe I misread your initial post to say he was floating IN armor rather than he was just empty floating armor, so I think at least I get what your issue is now. I remember having some issues with his transformation with a really early version of the mod where I did more messing around with the character, but I have been using the mod as-is for a really long time now and I have never run into trouble with this version of it. You can try using the non-Harkon version of it if you suspect this mod is your problem. I never did really figure out how his transformation worked on a technical level but I recall it would break for some strange reasons, like if you change the “skin” in his character record. It’s been a very long time since I looked at the nuts and bolts of this mod so there could be stuff I don’t remember about it.

Tested in the same test profile again, installed the "patch - Updated Harkon and Valerica" after the mod, and loaded the esp after as well, harkon's body reappeared under his armor in VL form, now I'm not so interested in his powers anymore.
Also tested on my main play through profile, everything works perfectly.
Thanks a lot for your answers.

Installed on SSE... named vamps in castle at start of DG have black faces... Hott has priority over everything in my LO. ? I installed no Serena version with the harkon patch to prevent the invisible bug.

If it's not the load order, it's an issue with the facegen files. Make sure they are properly installed and nothing is overwriting them.

mod installed via MO2 - no conflicts reported. Not sure how else to verify installation is correct - other than all the vamps I've encountered so far in the DG missions look great and so did lord harkan... just the three or four female vamps around the dining table in that first scene with harkon had black faces. I tried setnpcweight 35 on them and it resolved, but they had vanilla faces. Strange. BTW: Used your Forsworn Girls Girls Girls edition to resolve naked briarheart issue in my game too. So thanks.

It's a missing files issue; that's not always going to show up as a "conflict."

That bug is not down to chance, it has a single extremely specific cause: It means the plugin that determines what the character should look like does not have a matching facegen mesh installed. And there are only two possible ways to arrive at this problem: wrong load order, or missing files.

I don't know MO2, but I know you can't trust a program like that to do the right thing automatically. As I understand it, there should be a way to set install order, and there should also be a directory where you can put loose files to override that. Like it says in the sticky post, this mod has to overwrite everything to work. Depending on how you install mods, that can take a little extra work.

I believe you have to load the mod in Creation Kit and then save it again. This will change the mod to form 44 (SE) which is not a big deal, but most importantly it will regenerate facegen files.

To quote "Porting Skyrim mods to Skyrim Special Edition" wiki page, "This will save the esp file in a format that works fine with SSE. For NPCS, it also will create/update the facegen data (meshes and textures)
of the NPCs added or modified by the mod.
There is no need to use the CTRL+F4 keys to do that" (emphasis mine).

I assure you she is not. You previously downloaded a version that did modify her. If you just install a no-Serana version on top of that, without removing the files from the other version first, you will still have Serana's modified head hanging out in your facegen files.

Sorry for leaving you hanging for a while lol. The problem was that my smashed patch included the serana esp and I choose to use the no serana version later on. My bad.

I have a mod for serana, her mom, and the smith in the castle,... so will I get a conflict of some sort?
And if I just pay attention in the installation will I be able to just press no to those 3?

:D Also thanks for the mod for so long I just gave up about ugly vampires.

I didn't get a screenshot of her, but she is affected by the mod. By default she wears a hood, so you might not see a fancy hairstyle on her, but she will not have a gray face, at least.

Sorry for bad english (translated by google). I really like your mod, but with it vampires have vanilla abilities. And vampire enhancing mods rewrite and return ugly faces. Can I pass it and put a version with enhanced vampires, I'm going to give them a few perks and spells as befits a vampire, some will be truly not only beautiful but also powerful. I'm going to make a few mods to enhance the enemies but that they were also beautiful. I am an aspiring modeler and so far I have been doing mods for myself only. I hope you resolve to me.

Do not re-release my work as your own. You can put up a patch for my mod (.esp replacer is ok), or a patch to make it work with another mod, or if you make your own vampire mod you can make a patch so it works with mine.

This mod solved a black face issue I was having, I thank you.

    1. Is this mod safe to just run "as is" in form 43 in SSE? I have converted all of the Form 43 mods I have, but this one has masters and that complicates things for moi. Important Safety Tip: Some form 43s are just fine in SSE, others will blow up your save :o

    2. Rinori Imaryn (Base 13027E00) has a neck seam. Any suggested solutions? I am sure it is something I am running that is causing the issue. Maybe I can ask her nicely to put on a high necked dress? :D

      1. Nobody seems to have had problems just using it as-is but that is down to your discretion.

      2. Neck seams can happen for a lot of reasons but a common one is a character's weight changing mid playthrough. If you ever used another mod that affected her weight, or if 3DNPC changed her weight in an update, it could cause that...

Thank you for the reply. Per #1 It is running just fine without conversion and that is with constant saves. And for the #2 question, I think that it is most certainly a weight alteration. I know for a fact that her weight was changed. I appreciate the help.

All has been working perfectly and I have been all over this save.

One issue that cropped up was the Harkon transformed invisible body that was fixed in the patch. I realized I had not installed said patch. I am doing so now and Loot tries to put it below Bijin (Serana and Valerica version AIO-SV). Should I put it with the Hott Vampires esp above Bijin; that is, the 2.2d patch will have a lower priority number than Bijin?

      Loot Order
      -Hott Vampires 2.esp
      -Bijin AIO-SV 2018.esp
      -Updated Harkon and Valerica.esp

I was thinking of putting updated just under Hott Vampires.esp in the above list. Which is correct?

You probably want to load the patch right after Hott Vampires, and make sure you don't overwrite the facegen files from Bijin if you want to keep Valerica's appearance.

nerdofprey , I'm trying to figure out how to best use your mod. I currently have Serana and Valerica covered by the Bijin mod. I also have the Improved Bards. (There aren't any Vampire bards, are there?) Therefore, I assume I should put both Interesting NPCs and your mod before Bijin so that the Bijin version will show in the game, correct? I also assume I need to make sure Hott Vampires comes after any patches to 3DNPC?

Also, what do the vampire eyes look like if you don't use the bloody grey file? Like vanilla vampire eyes?

Yes to all of the above.

The vampire eye texture option is literally just a texture replacer for vanilla eyes. If you don't use it, the game will use your installed eye textures, whatever they might be. The caveat here is that I use non-glowing eye meshes, so you are likely to lose out on any glow effects you've got.

Just curious; I saw some of the vampires -- including Rinori -- had gaunt cheeks. Is that the way you drew them or is that the result of choosing "vampire cheeks" when installing the body mod?

I really have no idea what you're talking about, but if you installed something called "vampire cheeks" that certainly seems like the first place to look if you have vampire cheek problems.
