Innkeeper won't talk to me after rescuing him via Notice Board Quest (5 comments)

Upon completion of a "Rescue Citizen" Quest, the rescued citizen, Hadring (the Innkeeper of Nightgate Inn) will not initiate dialogue with me. I have no option to buy or rent a room or anything from him after completing the quest... Interacting with him does not yield any kind of dialogue menu...

I tried waiting a week in-game hoping it would fix itself but it hasn't. I also reset his AI via console but that did nothing. I'm assuming I'll just have to revert to a previous save... Good thing I save like a bajillion times a minute.

I'm now paranoid that all the other NPC's I rescued with dialogue options have the same issue... But I never bothered to speak to them after rescuing them so I don't even know :o

I just came here with the same problem. Looks like The Notice Board breaks innkeepers. So I will just not touch the boards anymore during my playthrough. And just leave them there for looks and to have more NPC traffic in my towns.

It can also break shopkeepers. Manny responded saying that the issue is not from his mod, but too many reports from different people and different setup makes it likely that this mod is the cause. Unfortunately I doubt he will ever fix this.

I'm having the same problem with that same innkeeper. now i have a full set of orcish armor for no reason sitting in my house. what sucks even more is that it made each individual armor piece its own quest so it takes up a good portion of my misc. quest list. I hope someone finds a fix or work around for this soon because i really liked doing these quests when i wanted to hold off on others. And i don't want to take more quests risking those breaking other NPC's

Ok i found a sort of fix (it completes the quest but the innkeeper is still broken)

In that link at the post at the bottom the guy describes how to finish a bugged quest. Just follow what he says and it will complete the quest as if you talked to him normally

For me it took the armor from my inventory and gave the smithing experience like the quest said it would as a reward. Not sure how it would work for someone else who had to rescue this innkeeper or something else with him as the NPC target.
