I messed up and forgot to add the lines allowing map controls with the D-pad. I've uploaded the proper file.
I'm kinda new to any form of modding, as extremely basic as this is. If anyone finds any problem with the files, as in it doesn't do anything I promised it would (damn me! ), just let me know and I'll fix it pronto. As far as I know, both versions now include the quicksave/load which is the main feature, the hotkeys, and the D-pad controls for the map.
For those of you who downloaded before I noticed my mistake (D-pad map controls), just re-download the file now and it should work.
This file should go in Data/interface/controls/PC. Sorry for not clarifying that. If you don't have any of the folders in that path you can create one. for those using NMM or MO, I'll create a proper file path so the installers work properly.
Sorry I stopped checking nexus for long time. I don't use an XB1 controller, but if it uses X-input and is backwards compatible with 360 it should work.
you need to open up the .txt file and find the command line in the far left column with all commands listed. if the free-camera command is there, you need to find the appropriate column (I can't remember exactly which, but the descriptive information above the table tells you which column/placement in a row corresponds to which input method). The keys must be entered in hexadecimal form (like 0x0001 and such). there are charts online that tell you which hex scan codes correspond to the keys. for you the "3" key will be hex scan code 0x0033. if i'm correct, the second entry (meaning the second key code in the line next to the command) represents the keyboard.
another alternative, if the free camera key is in the txt file, just cut the code from hotkey "3" from the keyboard entry (again, confirm it in the .txt, but I think it was second entry on the same command line) and place it next to the command you want.
I know that's a bit difficult to swallow, but it's really not that intimidating. the only think you need to worry about is getting the right hex scan codes, which I gave you.
Yo, I just thought of something! What if you made 8 hotkeys all around the D-pad, and then made it so that you have to release the D-pad to equip something, and you have to hold a D-pad button to pull up your favourites menu?
You could try using this mod to have 7 hotkeys: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/330/? I use it and it works (but you can no longer use the down button to scroll the menu).
I uploaded another version with the D-pad Down removed,, in favor of a seventh hotkey. But like you noticed, for some reason it uber-scrolls through the favorites list.
Which is why I love the D-pad. You can have like 20 shouts, 50 spells, 3 weapons, a shield, and some armour pieces you like to toggle on and off; and you can still scroll through almost efficiently.
I finally had a chance to try out this mod, and it works great! Totally endorsed. I'll definitely be switching from the other mod I was using. I never noticed the fast scrolling through the favorites list? Perhaps it's because I use this favorites menu mod: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/22307/?
@KGMeisenbacher: D-pad up to bring up the favorites menu, Left-stick to move the cursor(left/right to switch headings, up/down to scroll), A to Use/Equip, Hold a Hotkey button for a moment to hotkey something. There is a way to set it to equip an entire set of items, but you need to use a keyboard to configure it, I think; I haven't tried to use that part.
That mod really only changes the Favorites menu; so if you can now, I suspect you could do the same with the modded menu. I'm not sure, I haven't tried it.
You need to put the files in a Data folder. It doesn't install properly with NMM but even after manual install it doesn't work for me. I use a PS3 controller with motioninjoy.
I was told to put it in a " data" so you guys can unzip it straight to the proper location, so I'm guessing a lot of people have install problems. Can you tell me where you placed the file?
It should go in Data/interface/controls/PC. Sorry for not clarifying that. If you don't have any of the folders in that path you can create one. If using MO, the manual install option should already know where it's going. I'll upload the file with a a better folder layout.

Btw is it possible to assign a function to the xbox guide button?
