Different formids from original mod, this is bad for compatibility with mods in user's mods compilation and for working in tes5edit with many mods. Do you can to make a patch for originl mod?
One more question: if I overwrite the original with your esp plugin, does it change the FormIDs such that my characters will lose any "Immersive Armors" that they already have either equipped or in their inventory?
I just did a quick comparison and they are not the same FormIDs. Is there any way that you can renumber them so that users of this mod will not lose all their gear when upgrading to your replacement esp?
i literally changed my version of the mod (instead of making a copy) so my guess would be to download manually and drop it in your IA folder so its not a second mod overwriting but directly overwriting/replacing the original file (which is how it functions on my rig)
