Hi, this is a nice idea for a mod kudos for that. I just have one suggestion, since this mod changes the enchant glow texture's alpha channel to make it invisible, why not make the texture really small and compressed to save VRAM as well, this way could also improve performance (sort of). Your current version is 512x1024 32-bitARGB uncompressed - too much for an invisible texture that will just load up and consume VRAM for nothing. Make it very tiny - 4x4 pixels maybe and compress it to DXT1c or DXT3, this would do the same trick but more efficiently. Cheers
Hello skyrimaguas, I appreciate your comment and the included suggestion. Very smart thinking. I should have done that in the first place, really. I took the small time it took me to include your advices and uploaded it as a new version, right away. Performance was not something I took into consideration, but of course you have a point.
thank you good sir just what i needed since i use mods to remove crosshair and i use the scoop on bow's i like realism, this was what i needed cause that glow at night kind mess with my aim when aiming fast
hello, i really like this mod, however one little thing that i dont like is the mod also removes glowing effect on enemies when you use 'marked for death' shout, i use that shout very often, so unfortunately i had to disable this mod .
Hello! I love the idea of this! But unfortunately I can't seem to get it to work with my game. I have it installed and enabled through Vortex, but my Soul Trap enchantment is still visible on my sword. I don't have any mods that change my enchantments, but I do have a modded in sword (Frostmourne, though it was unenchanted until I put Soul Trap on it ^^). Though I've also had other mods not work with Vortex, and had to install them manually instead, so maybe it's a Vortex thing? (Vampire lord retexture, and the Bijin mods) I haven't tried installing it manually, because of the warning ^^ But I can try!
You can try manually installing it. This here mod is super easy to uninstall afterwards. But Vortex should so it correctly already. No idea what the issue could be if I'm honest.
Hello! Sorry I forgot to reply! It started working a couple of days after I downloaded it! I'm not sure what I did exactly, I never ended up manually installing it, I just kept playing the save with the mod activated and it worked ^^ It's all working now, and a must-have in my load order ^^ Ty
Awesome mod! Glowing weapons always bothered me and you have solved it, PukinDumpling. Thank you! Easy to manually install and works perfectly. You have more than earned my endorsement.
I know that it would probably cause this to be way too much work, but thought I'd add my two cents. Would it be possible to have this mod only affect EQUIPPED weapons? I like seeing the effect of enchants on things, however when I use scoped bows the enchant runs over the scope itself and makes it impossible to see through.
Seems then that they use the effect they also use in the inventory (which is also not removed by the mod I linked). You might ask the other mod author if you haven't already. I'll also take a look at it, but I won't be able to before the weekend.
First of all, thank you for this mod. The glow maps for enchanted weapons really rune (heh heh, see what I did there?) the aesthetics of the weapons, particularly uniques.
Unfortunately, I seem to have encountered an issue with your mod: It's made the spell runes almost invisible, with just a small speck indicating where a trap is.
Not sure if you're able to separate the two things, but if you'd be willing to take a gander and see, I'd appreciate it.
Hi there, Thank you for your comment. :) And sorry for the rather late response!
Good pun there, btw! And yes, unfortunately the removal of the weapon glow effect comes with this particular price. I only noticed it myself a couple of weeks before. Some other effects also use this very texture file. That is just Bethesda being lazy (or rather "optimising" game files). Separating that would probably require an esp and me digging a lot deeper into this. There were also requests for a Summermyst patch that would cause the same level of work. Work that I don't have the time for at the moment (I'm not even really playing these games at the moment.)
I might come back to it, though. So maybe I'll have another look at it. But I won't make promises right now.
Thank you for your endorsement. I appreciate it! This little mod got a lot more attention than I would have hoped here and on the Special Edition. :)
Hey friend. Thank you a lot for giving my mod a go.
As for your issue: I have gone ahead and downloaded the mod you mentioned... Which katanas did you see a glow on? Among the ones I tried only the deadric ones had a glow and it seems that this might be a desired effect by the maker of said mod (to kind of emphasize the vivid, animated nature of daedric equipment). Can you tell me which katanas are affected so I can try and locate the problem and maybe create a patch?
Follow-up: Yes you are right, the Dragonbane still has the effect. However, that is not the glowing texture that my mod is aimed to remove. That is in fact a "good" proper" elemental effect. I am not sure I want to remove it, if I'm honest.
ah good good you did another one. the other one i found was last updated 2011..... I HATE using such old mods gonna come back in a few mins for endorsement

Not much in the way of feedback, I guess. Either it works or it doesn't.
But if you want to chare your thoughts with me, anyway, go ahead!

They turn weapon racks into piece of shit.

Either way, I've endorsed this mod.
Thanks again!
