Five years later and Karindar is still my mount of choice. :) Mostly because he doesn't run away very far when attacked and is also invulnerable, so it is easier than most horses to find again, and because I still like the fact that my character can ride him bareback. :)
Also because it is a lightweight, straightforward mod that doesn't add much extra strain when, like me, you have a lot of mods..
I now use him with the HD Reworked Horses mod by Halkhogan which upgrades his default graphics.
It's nice to have a horse that can be ridden bareback for a change, and one that survives attacks, thanks.
Would it be possible to add a summon? If he runs away and gets lost after a dragon attack or gets left behind somewhere and I don't want to go all the way back for him, I have to fast-travel somewhere to summon him or use his reference ID to move him to me via the console.

That tutorial is for conjuring creatures, not for summoning or recalling creatures to you that are already in the game world. I'm afraid I don't know of a tutorial for the latter, but if I come across any information I'll post it.
Well, I did think I was taking some more screenshots yesterday but when I looked in my folder, the screenshots weren't there! I think I had forgotten to turn on Fraps. I'll see what I come up with next time.

Please don't give me any authorship credit. My help has been very little. I have done no more than give you some screenshots and post some fairly standard advice to users as to how to recall Karindar.

Karindar's Reference ID is xx000D68 where xx is his position in the load order. Replace xx with the load order number.
To recall him, type the following two lines into the console (replacing xx):
prid xx000D68
moveto player
Alternatively, just fast travel to the nearest place to your location.
