Reconsidering the idea of removing Daedric from forge and bringing it back BUT requiring high skill, a rare recipe and arcane blacksmith - anyone have thoughts? Bueller?
i have searched for a mod like this for quite long... but i have a question... the Plans/instructions works only for vanilla weapon? or even for weapon added from other mod
sorry for late reply iv been using it or should i say wanting to use it but it needs the unoffacail patch and i use legendary unoffacail so it wont work any chance you could make a update for it?
I agree! I love the idea of needing to require schematics, proper tools, and skill level to craft/temper anything (the same way Requiem has it). But I use both Honed Metal and Complete Crafting Remade, along with a perk overhaul for smithing as well.
Any chance of creating a version that just adds the requirement of schematics & tools to remain compatible with those other mods?
Wanted to say that I began a new game with Ordinator & the Light version of this mod and so far they seem to be functioning well together. In order for anything to appear in my crafting menu I need to have the following:
1) Appropriate Plan:xx in my inventory 2) Hammer & Tongs 3) Appropriate Skill level - this function seems to be working with Ordinator
This mod is brilliant, as soon as I read the description I knew I wanted to try it. I love the concept of needing plans/schematics before being able to craft something - on top of the Role Play element it's also an especially clever way of reducing crafting menu clutter (as you can store plans in a safe container and only take out the ones you need).
I would love to see a patch for the aMidianborn Content Addon as this adds some great variety for the standard armor types, but it's a bit jarring to see that I can craft variations of certain items without the relevant plans/schematics.
I would also love to see tongs and hammer introduced into the game, perhaps when asking the smith's if I can use their forge they can offer to sell me a set? I have absolutely no idea how to do this or how hard it would be to implement (or if it might affect other mods), just thought it would help integrate the requirement for the correct tools into the game a little better.
I seem to be stuck - Loaded the Full version with HA patch, removed all previous smithing mods. Started new game and am about 2 days into it. I'm at smithing level 8, so accepted the smithing quest from Adrianne. Menus don't show the Dagger, so I bought plans for iron and hide (pages are blank). Now looking for a smithing hammer and tongs. I can’t find any - None of the blacksmiths have them (Riverwood, Whiterun, Skyforge), nor Ulfberth or Lucan. Is there something else I need to do? Thanks
Sorry my phone line got cut so have been MIA. There is a pool of items blacksmiths sell and they are in there. I couldn't find tongs recently but I "borrowed" a set from the Markarth blacksmith. I admit it is not a perfect system because they aren't always available. I'll see if I can tweak it to make them more common or at least place some around the world.
Eventually the plans will contain item requirements but that's further down the list.
Ok, I will keep searching in game. It has turned into a mini-quest of sorts - so don't make them too common. Thanks again!
Edit: Reworked my load order and Ulfberth had several hammers and tongs in his inventory, so I bought a few more plans and was able to finish the smithing quest!
This is great - wish I could endorse it a second time!!
I play with all three of your Equipment Flexibility mods. They work great - which led me to this mod. I am starting a new game and will definitely DL and use it! If I am reading it correctly, it will replace 4 or so mods in my game and make Smithing a LOT more interesting. I play as a Restoration spell sword that sides with the DG. I smith items for my band of followers. Questions - Will this allow me to have plans for DG crossbows and bolts? And will it allow Silver variations for the bolts? Looking forward to using this. Thanks for the mod!
You have a chance of finding the plans for crossbows and bolts on wandering DG members, buy it from Gunmar or a "disguised hunter" may have them. As the vanilla game only has Steel and Dwarven bolts, for the time being those are all you can make. That being said, if you get the plans you can only make the Steel versions and need to proceed with the DG quests to unlock the tech for Dwarven. I could make silver bolts and add them to the mod if you want them but they would only look like the Steel ones.
And smithing for followers is one of the main reasons behind this mod, I didn't like that I had to choose between making Heavy and Light stuff because my team uses both. Thanks for you interest and the kind words; glad you liked EFP.
The look doesn't matter to me, as a mage it is useful to sometimes do ranged silver damage. Also on your question regarding Arcana Blacksmith, YES! That would allow me to apply more perks here!

the next update will have both versions but i don't have a set date on when it will be out
from what i've seen - if you used both, you would have many duplicate smithing recipes
it's possible they actually work fine together if you disable the recipes on CCO but i haven't tested it personally

that way you can enchant/temper it yourself and go nuts

Anyway, great mod, endorsed.
