Update is finally online. See change log, readme, and in-game experience for specifics. I had a brief few weeks to work on updating this and then had to come back to a heavy work schedule IRL. I hope the latest update sort of gives you all a climate framework from which to build a more fully-featured weather exposure system. The last feature I really wanted but did not have a chance to complete was worldspace-specific base temperatures. I hope you find the update useful anyway. Note: The Immersive Armors patch requires the DLC and DLC Patch. I'm just out of time to work on it, but anyone else is free to continue developing the mod, uploading elsewhere, making derivative works, etc.

Decided to download this instead of Frostfall because FF sounds too big, too intrusive for my tastes. I'm sure it's an excellent mod but not what I was looking for. I do seek additional immersion and challenge but I don't want a feature to kind of take over the whole game. I've been really liking Hypothermia so far. It's lightweight, non-intrusive and it let's me be my usual "Fashion Souls" player. To be honest, one major reason I didn't download FF is its' heavy focus on what kind of clothes you're wearing. I suspect that would pretty much force me to ditch style over stats.
I do agree that the default settings of Hypothermia seem very forgiving but I'm still experimenting with different characters/settings and I do think I prefer some leeway over having to make campfires every 5 minutes.
I downloaded Hypothermia along with iNeed and they have significantly made my experience with Skyrim a lot more immersive and fun without feeling like a chore.

What I respect a lot about this mod is that it is straightforward. Even with settings, you are already "in it" whether you like it or not. On by default. Perfect for roguelites.

Don't use this version of Hypothermia. Search Nexus for "Hypothermia Plus" upgrade.

someone really needs to fix the bug with dawnguard vampire lords so hypothermia doesn't murder them

haven't tried it yet, but i'd like to point out the elephant in the room- frostfall. it will be helpful if you wrote how is it different\better in the mod's main menu for people who are considering using this mod.

In Frostfall, your game ends up becoming "Frostfall: Skyrim Edition."

With this mod, your game ends being "Skyrim."

This mod is more based on your core temperature rather than what kind of clothes you're wearing, which means if you get too cold you can run around for a few minutes to warm up your body temperature in addition to being next to fires/torches and drinking soups and potions.

In Frostfall, if you're wearing the wrong clothing and can't get near a fire quickly, then you die. You'll end up making a fire every 5 minutes.

Though both of these mods deal with the cold, they take two different approaches and get two different results.

This mod feels like it could have been part of the vanilla game all along.

Frostfall takes over your game, though it's configurable in the MCM.

This mod is very light on scripts. Frostfall, though considerably cleaned up since version 3.0, just feels heavier than this one.

This mod hasn't been updated by it's original author in years. However, Hypothermia Plus is definitely recommended and makes it much cleaner, though it hasn't been updated since late 2016.

Frostfall has constant, excellent support from Chesko.

Frostfall is an excellent mod, but I just prefer this mod with Hypothermia Plus because it just fits into the game much more smoothly.

Thank you for the note, I got fedup with frostfall today. it is really hard to explore the cold regions because you need to make campfires every 5 minutes.

Frostfall prevents you from playing Skyrim. It's still fun for OCD gamers though. Most players using this mod just want to suffer penalties, not gameplay.
