Hi this mod looks awsome but i have a full HD 1080p led monitor, so if i use 4k or 8k textures, can my screen display it correctly since the texture has more pixels than my monitor, i'm confused
Texture resolution and monitore resolution are two completely different things, the thing that matters here is your graphic card not the monitor (though it would be a waste to have hd textures on a ridiculously small monitor of course), bigger texture need more vram, in a 1080p monitor you will see difference from a 2k to a 4k texture when you zoom in, for close ups and such. And there aren't 8k textures here, 8k for a weapon is overkill.
Oh ok, and i thought it was like legos, that my monitor would only have the pixels to display half of the sword lol, but i have a decent GPU it's a AMD R9 280 x
Yes, cubemaps most likely (something_c or cube_something usually), you need to replace them with ones that work in sse (like a suitable one in any of my mods ported to sse), it may alter the look ofc. Or recompress this ones in DXT1 if you have gimp/photoshop.
Hi Frank your work is unbelievable. Top quality. Thanks a lot for your contributions!
Regarding the SSE CTD I've tried porting it and I too was getting the crash until figured it in the .NIF the following textures: EbonyBlade_e_ebony.dds and EbonyBlade_e_gold.dds were the problem. Looking into the vanilla blade I was able to return these settings to Ore_Ebony_e.dds and Chitin_e_ebony.dds, respectively and thus circumventing the problem. I'm totally aware that I'm ignoring 2 of your texture files but until an official porting the result is good enough.
It is unfortunate that your beautiful retexture of Ebony Blade is not ported to the SE edition. I made changes using NifSkope, as was written in the message above: EbonyBlade_e_ebony.dds -> Ore_Ebony_e.dds, EbonyBlade_e_gold.dds -> Chitin_e_ebony.dds. Now, when you enter Dragonsreach, the game does not crash to the desktop, but it still randomly continues to crash in other locations. :(
May I ask a question? Why are all of your Frankly HD mods (except this one) packaged with a FOMOD installer to pick between 2k and 4k (thus forcing everyone to download both) yet the Miraak robes, which a FOMOD installer would make more sense for, are organized into separate downloads based on resolution and colour options?
To the first, mainly for my own convenience and also because going by the numbers many people actually download both, to try or mix them or whatever. Additionally, 2k size is fairly irrelevant if one is downloading 4k so I'm technically only forcing the users of 2k to download significantly more than they need. I prefer to not have to upload the meshes and common stuff twice as I would have to if I made two separate packages. But as said, main reason is to have a single package that is easier to manage when uploading, updating, etc. My personal preference basically.
No real reason why Miraak doesn't have an installer, it should have one, I just didn't made it when I made that mod which was a good while ago.
I used this in SSE, i loaded it in Nifskope, altered the gold color on the sword to red and gave it a scabbard which i scaled from one of the katana mods. Saved in Nifskope and it was fine. I've recently re-installed SSE and lost the mesh. I'm gonna try to do it again...pretty sure i would have ran it through NifOptimizer first...
You've posted in the wrong mod. You can use the mesh from scoped bow and the textures from my mod, but more the maximum visual fidelity one would have to open scoped bows' mesh in nifskope and match shader settings and cubemap path.
Any way this could be updated for Skyrim SE? Or anyone know a fix to get it working? I'd love to use this in it but the meshes seem to crash the game soon as the sword tries to load. Tried optimizing with NIFF Optimizer to no avail.
Edit: Oops, found the answer to the status of these being updated to SE on another file. Sorry! Please disregard.
Try running the textures through a dds optimizer (I think theres one called ddsopt or something like that), that should compress the cubemaps which is probably the root cause of the issue upon porting, or if you have gimp/photoshop and a dds plugin that too. DXT1 or DXT5 compression formats should work fine.

(Sorry for Zerofrost and others haha)
I just have one question, does the bow texture work with scoped bow ?
I don't think so because of the mesh but i'm wondering ?
(Sorry for my english)
