So, is this still needed if you installed Skyrim Particle Patch?

Ah, okay. But this is compatible with all retextures right? And is the plugin for atronach fix included in the particle patch needed?

There is no plugin in the file, just the flame atro mesh. I never got around to an audit of the module. Just run it through TES5Edit to do a UDR sweep, and maybe a ITM sweep too.

What I meant the plugin in Mindflux's Particle Patch. There is a plugin called Skyrim Particle Patch for ENB - Flame Atronach Fix.esp. Do I still need it if I use your fix?

      You should not need it.

This is something that was done by Mindflux for the Skyrim Particle Patch a month or so ago, but it's nice to have here on the nexus too!

Judging from the screenshot in the mod in question, that flame atro patch introduces subjective changes (namely making the non-flamey bits nearly transparent).

I also discovered a deleted ref object in the ice shader fix module (which is a no-no, the game calling on a deleted ref results in a crash). I also have a feeling that these items aren't reconciled with USKP fixes. I might turn this into a more comprehensive affair...

If you find things to fix, fix em! Thanks for this one.

@Madcat221 Since you seem to be quite knowledgeable on this subject, what would your advice be on using the Particle Patch? Bad idea period, or is the main module safe?

I haven't had issues in my short tests, but I'd like to avoid dooming myself to future CTD's. (Especially if a more comprehensive bug fix from you might become a reality. Then I can just use that!)

I haven't checked all of them, so I wouldn't know. I see no mention of USKP on the ENB forum page on this that Google turned up, so I'd bet that any meshes fixed by USKP on the ENB that the particle patch also handles would be unfixed.

Sounds like it might be a good idea to contact Mindflux on this. His Particle Patch is recommended or required by basically every preset out there and some (like mine) include the patch right along with the preset. Since his mod is so widely used and you seem to have identified some issues, it would probably be a good idea to contact him. He goes by artem1s here on the Nexus if you didn't know. Also, as a slight side note, SMIM carries forward all fixes from USKP and the Particle Patch that SMIM meshes touch, so much of that (though not nearly all) is covered there.

So far on comparing, there is actually little overlap with USKP. I found one inexplicable bit with the Chaurus Eggs, where the glow map was essentially disabled. Much of the rest is architecture stuff which was just hole-plugging. And it seems that the flame atro stuff (which inst touched by USKP, mind you) is a workaround, as the patch does not enable the SLSF1_Soft_Effect flag. It also removes the alpha property from the "outward" armor NiTriShape, making it have an alpha-less edge.

TES5Edit can be used to undelete and disable such refs.
