Ok peeps, check it. I am gonna do something a little unorthodox. I'm getting a lot of request for alternate color schemes for this armor set. And a few of you have already taken it upon yourselves and made your own. So, rather than spend hours making them myself, I have released "Simplified" versions of my working Photoshop diffuse maps as a DIY file pack. Everything is in layers and I am a huge fan of using layer styles meaning that virtually everything Is customizable right down to the color of the stitching.I have already made a red variant to get the ball rolling Simply drop the files into your Skyrim/Data/Textures/Armor/BattleMage folder and it will replace the original color.

So I think this is worth a try. If you have the chops, let me see what you can do by sending me your screenshots. If I like what you come up with I will post them as a Texture replacer file for others without the means themselves. And if it is really popular I may even consider posting it in the Steam Workshop and I will absolutely credit you for your assistance. (Not sure on this yet, I don't think its fair to flood the workshop with cheep crap, God knows there is plenty of that already.)

DO NOT TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THIS GIFT!!!!!!! I better not see anyone going over my head with this. I am not one of those "Modders" who makes ports from other games, or retextures, or reuses assets. All of my mods are 100% original works made from scratch. I like many of my fellow Modders spend weeks and months of our free time making this content and the only thing I ask in return is a kind word and an endorsement if you like the work. These files are intended for your personal use only and not to be redistributed without my consent.

DO NOT: be butt hurt if I chose not to upload your retexture.
DO NOT: ask me for help, unless your are a Photoshop wizard already and have a specific question about my personal workflow, AND can articulate your question to me in a clear and professional manner. Any question about general Photoshop use or something that can be answered with a simple Google search will be ignored. I'm not here to give out free Photoshop lessons. Please and thank you!!!

Just to let people know, I just downloaded the file and looked through the meshes via nifskope and found out, that there are absolute paths for the textures, like: c:\program files (x86)\steam\steamapps\common\skyrim\data\textures\armor\battlemage\battlemagerobes_d.dds,for the female cuirass and it has to be a relative path like: textures\armor\battlemage\battlemagerobes_d.dds.

Maybe that fixes the problems for people not getting their recolour to work, cause those texture paths do not get overwritten. ;)

I put the BattleMage bsa and esp in my Skyrim data folder then put my DIY textures in the BattleMage folder in armor, but the textures won't change.

So, i modified the armor's color and I tried to see in game what it would look like, i already had the armor on but the texture didn't change
I already created a BattleMage folder in Skyrim/data/textures/armor folder, and I put the modified photoshop psd file on it
Did I miss something or am i supposed to do something else to make it work ? Thanks for future answers

.psd file will not work. You need to export as a .dds and you need this plugin to do so. https://developer.nvidia.com/nvidia-texture-tools-adobe-photoshop
when exporting use the dxt5 option

You don't replace the texture per se, its more like an override. Textures and meshes are compressed and packaged in the .bsa file. The engine can read this file directly and display all of its contents without having to unpack the individual files. If however you were to unpack the files and place them in the correct file path the engine will opt to use the uncompressed "lose" files instead of the ones in the .bsa. Thus you can override any texture in the game simply by placing an appropriate texture file in the correct folder path.

An over complicated explanation of what is a very simple procedure. Go to your skyrim data folder and create a new folder and name it Textures then in that another folder called Armor and in that another called BattleMage. Drag/Drop or Copy/Paste the red texture file in the BattleMage folder and that's it.

The original color is untouched and still there. If you want to go back to using it just delete, move or rename the "replacement" texture.

Since you found it normally, I belive useing the console to get the version you like is not out of order. help battlemage in console will get you the number to use the code : player.additem (number) 1to get it. .. Or it should allow for that anyway.

btw he maker probably didn't put the red one there to be found...

Unless the red overwrites the blue one and you failed your load order or something..

Its been awhile and I never used mod manager very much so I can't be sure how it would work in this case. The red version is just a replacement texture and is not a mod file. You simply need to place the file in the correct folder. Skyrim will use the uncompressed texture file in favor of the one packaged in the mod.

      Skyrim/Data/Textures/Armor/BattleMage

If you are new to modding you likely will not have the Texture, Armor, or BattleMage folders so just create new ones and name them appropriately.
