    Frequently asked questions:

    1. Is this compatible with Climates of Tamriel or other huge weather mod?
No, and likely it would not be nessecary to use this in addition to those mods, since surely the author of those mods would have addressed this. This mod does work perfectly well with Realistic Lighting Overhaul's weather plugins though. Overwriting any weather mods changes with this mod will only mean Winterhold will use that mod's settings for the weather in whole Dawnstar to Winterhold snowy region, instead of that mod's settings for Winterhold specifically.

    2. WHAT I have a Blizzard in winterhold!! / Will this make Winterhold always have clear weather?
This mod in practice makes Winterhold town have the same weather as the rest of the hold, so if you get hit by a blizzard at Sarthaal and make your way to Winterhold, for example, you will still likely be in a blizzard when you arrive. Waiting around in Winterhold on a clear day long enough, and you will eventually get snow of somesort. This mod only disables the forced blizzard that occurs when entering the town on vanilla game setups, a storm which can then follow you across skyrim for some ways since it is set to override regular whether in vanilla Skyrim.

    3. Can I merge this into a merged patch/plugin of some sort, say using that TESVEdit script elsewhere on the Nexus?
I don't see why it wouldn't work, it is literally one record edited.

"In the grim cold of Winterhold there is only snow" was that a WH40K reference, we don't get a lot of these around here
Not really gonna use it after I download it since I like having a blizzard but I will vote for it just because your reference made my day

Thank you so much! This saved me from getting CTD when I'm in Winterhold or college.

Does this also remove the continuous blinding blizzard from the coast? Because I can't see s#*! when I'm wandering the northern isles.

Possibly. It's been a couple of years since I looked at the weather maps, but the northern coast IS set to be kinda stormy. Having a blizzard up in the north is not uncommon. However, what this WILL fix are the instances where you start exploring from Winterhold and its a blizzard for hours on end. Winterhold by default is not only set to always be in a fierce blizzard (in fact it's the only available weather in Winterhold, making the clear skies shout useless in town), but it's weather overrides the weather of other weather zones. So once you enter Winterhold, the blizzard sticks to you until you enter a weather zone incapable of having blizzards, you use the clear skies shout or Sunfire arrows (outside of Winterhold), or until you fast travel to somewhere other than Winterhold (I think). I hope that answers your question.

Thanks for all the feedback everyone, I appreciate the support! I don't expect this mod to be huge or anything, I just wanted it to be available in case someone wanted a very minimalistic fix for the issue.

We stare at too much snow as it is. Well done, wish I'd thought of it myself!

For a moment I thought this would make it always clear skies, but the fact that it simply makes it "Regular Weather" is exactly what I wanted!

Thank you for this simple mod!

Yeah I should probably address that in a FAQ's. The weather regions in Skyrim are like layers. The layer on top, as determined by it's priority value and ticking the override checkbox, is the layer that exists for a particular area. Winterhold has roughly three weather regions layered on top of it, weatherWinterhold, weathersnow, and weathercoast. Weathersnow is what is used everywhere in the Pale and the rest of Winterhold hold, like sarthaal or Fort Kastav. Weathercoast is the layer controlling the weather for out in the ocean, like when going to that mad guys hideout in the ice, and probably for the College of Winterhold. On top of these layers is weatherWinterhold layer, which cover exactly the six or so square cells which make up the town of Winterhold itself. Whilst the other regions have varying chances for all types of weather, weatherWinterhold is set to "100% stormsnow," meaning entering the town will alyas result inforcing a blizzard. Moreover, whilst in this weatherWinterhold region, all other types of weather CEASE TO EXIST! So none of the tricks that can usually produce clear weather like the clear skies shout or Auriel's bow work here, there is literally no clear weather to load for those six game cells. You have to get away from winterhold before the weather clears if you use them. Well, I haven't actually tested the bow, but the clear skies shout issue was the last straw in making this mod.

I don't think it is compatible with CoT, but from what I remember from back when I used CoT is that CoT edits the weather for Winterhold either in a manner similar to mine, or changes the weather to be less obnoxious. So you wouldn't need my mod if using that in all likelihood. Go ahead and do a quick test if you want though, the worst that could happen is that CoT's edits to Winterhold's specific weather region would get overwritten by CoT's edits to the generic snow weather region that encompasses the rest of the Pale and Winterhold hold.
