V2 Is here, finally. Please tell me if I borked the installer again :P

Patches will need to be redone but I've made some changes to the vanilla replacer files that should prevent other mods from doing weird things when combined with V2. I honestly don't remember how I set up the old patches so I don't know what will happen if you use those with V2 so uhh maybe don't do that unless you know what you're doing lol

I have provided meshes and normal map optimized for Special Edition in the optional files section but the main file should run fine right out of the box in SSE

Just to save you all time skimming back through this thread:

Make sure you try out Feed the Animals mod by fadingsignal, so you can give Lola treats!

    http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/59327/?

    UPDATES:

skyTEST installer version is now available in 1k and 2k. Does not include lola or D.O.S support, Made by ShimoOkami!

    V 1.2 is now up!
UPDATE script for lola on download page. you NEED it to get her to work! I just forgot to put it in the pack! DOH! Future updates will have it though.

Version changes only affect Lola AI, so you can download the Lola stand-alone file and install over the existing mod to get the better AI.

    1k FULL replacer version,

Lola available now as a stand alone follower, with better AI, includes the option to choose her coat colour from all of the existing wolf coats. (this option is only in the stand alone version, just to make things less complicated for me...)

    F.A.Q:

Q: Your wolves are too cute! I can't (wont) kill them anymore!!
A: Try a behaviour changing mod which makes the wolf AI more skittish and shy! That way you can have your cute wolves and not feel bad about hurting them. Try 'One with Nature', 'Realistic Wolf Behavior', or 'Primal Fear'.

Q: Will this mod be compatible with 'insert mod here'.....?
A: Compatibility patching and packs are in progress for:
Automatic Variants, Skyrim Immersive Creatues, Dynamic Wolf follwer, Animallica, Call of the North (texture pack)... and probably heaps more in the future...

Q: Is this compatible with Realistic ragdolls and force?
A: Should be! if you don't want the skeletons included (vanilla) then simply don't install them. If the mod breaks and you have eyes in the wrong places, you can install my skeleton over the top of RR&F skeletons, according to the RR&F description, you will still maintain the force vales from RR&F even if you overwrite their skeletons with new ones. I personally use RR&F and have had no issues with vanilla skeletons which come with this mod. Experiment! just make sure you back up your existing skeleton first!!

Q: Lola doesn't follow, or goes missing when changing cells!
A: Lola was my first attempt at an animal follower, I will update her AI and give her some more dialogue as soon as I have time and figure out how to do so! For now if you have issues with her, you can try re-loading the cell you are in to see if that fixes her issues. (The original real lola was prone to wandering off, since when she got to be THAT old (18 human years!) she was blind, deaf and had a serious case of dementia. poor old puppy!!)

Q: Can you re-texture 'insert skyrim animal here' ???
A: Yes I can, and probably will eventually! though it might take a while since I have a life outside of modding and various assignments due in the next month for University. waah!

Running Anniversary Edition here, and it seems like there's a missing eye texture. All the wolves show up with glowing purple eyes.
Otherwise looks great, a huge improvement over whatever the heck the vanilla wolves are supposed to be

How did you make this mod work on skyrim SSE?

You can make this work on SE/AE, including fixing this purple eye problem, by running the mod through Cathedral Assets Optimizer.

I converted this before CAO was a thing and it works fine but I am on 1.5.97.

Just in case anyone has any fixes or wants to know; the wolves have black/missing eyes. Tried a few things and it didn't work so I switched to another mod for the time being but I prefer this one. This is on AE, I used CAO to convert the textures. Don't use SE version in downloads, from my understanding it is broken.

The wolf_sk.dds texture file in this mod is 40x40 which is not a power of 2 which is something the game has issues with handling and can cause CTDs and other issues. I have updated it to 64x64 which is a power of 2 and no longer flags a error on a mesh using the texture but it is good for anyone using these in skyrim LE or SE to updats this texture to a power of 2 and save with mip maps BC7 compressed using gimp or paint.net

I had the same problem. I was using this mod as well as diverse true wolves and dogs and disabling diverse true wolves and dogs fixed the problem. If I had to guess it's because this is a  Le mod and diverse true wolves and dogs is a se mod. There used to be a se version of True wolves of Skyrim but it was removed or taken down from nexus and I can't find it anywhere. Hope this helped.

this mod touches wolves, not dogs. barbas should be unaffected.

I've recently moved to SSE and I miss these guys so bad! I was very happy to read that it is compatible. I have SIC though.. Would the patch for it still work with SSE? Thanks for all of your beautiful creatures <3
