This doesn't make much sense, because at the bottom of the Throat of the World, you will find a man who has a minor quest for you where you take food and supplies up the 7000 steps for the Greybeards. They're not ghosts, otherwise they wouldn't require food and supplies. It clashes with the rest of the story, not to mention the Civil War quest, where the Greybeards play an important role. I wouldn't recommend it, sorry.

The civil war story doesn't matter, ghosts can communicate, and for the food and supplies quest, he said he never spoke to them or has seen them, so he doesn't know they are ghosts, maybe he has done it a long time and the greybeards have died in that time, who knows, maybe it is a coverup so that no one knows they are dead

Think about this. Many Ancient religions, including christianity, would either sacrifice, or make offerings to their deities. Could just be a Nord tradition to bring supplies up there as offerings.
Or we could go with the realistic argument.
It doesn't matter, they are characters in a video game, and don't actually eat anything at all, they are just bits of ones and zeros. Hmmmmm come to think of it.....who am I to judge what is real? maybe we are all part of some elaborate machine, tiny ones and zeros making our choices to play out a massive interstellar gambits that we cant comprehend.

either way no one eats the effing food.

      great add on
      thanks

Consider that cultures all over the world make offerings of food to their dead. Some even have an annual day where they dig up their ancestors for a ceremonial feast in their honor. Food is often found in Drauger crypts, which also mirrors customs from around the world where food was entombed alongside the deceased. The ancient Egyptians are a great example of those practices. So while I agree that the practice itself of taking food to a bunch of dead people doesn't make sense, the ritualistic aspect being a function that plays out in this mod, works out brilliantly.

Very Nice Mod! Fits definitely into the setting and the Backround information of the Greybeards. Never heard of greybeards, recruiting other greybeards. It also fits into the role of paarthurnax of being a dragon ,because dragons are ancient too ,why shouldnt be the greybeards then?

Good Idea! Definitely my favorite Immersion mod.

They recruited Ulfric at one point -- which is why he knew the Thu'um for his fight with the high king. He has since chose not to continue his studies.

He studied with them. Doesnt mean he was being recruited as a Greybeard.

Lore states he was to become a Greybeard before the Great War broke out. If you actually listen to the dialogue and read the lore the Greybeards recruit one or two people every 50 years or so.

Great idea, but the greybeards haven't had the same people in power for eternity, new ones are selected, which would explain why the greybeards are yet to be dead!

    Nice idea though!

Which raises a bit of questions -- all the greybeards currently up there are all *really* old. You'd think there'd be a few apprentices running around by now right? Or did they only recruit Ulfric and just declare it impossible after that?

Maybe add extra greybeards sandboxing around High Hrothgar. Some ghost and some alive.

      Thanks for the support

While the idea is pretty cool, there is some lore "evidence" (a term to take lightly I know) that they take on new apprentices as recruits. One of such recruits being Ulfric Stormcloak, however he left after discovering that the way of the voice was just not fit for him ( mostly his ego, which he undeniably has wether you are a supporter of his rebellion are not, it is something you'l have to admit).

I second this. A good piece of evidence is when you are demonstrating your Thu'um for the first time Arngeir says something along the lines of "I'd always heard of the power of the dragonborn, but to see it for myself..." I forget the exact words but that's fairly close. That indicates he has never before seen a dragonborn in action... and yet at least Tiber Septim went to train with the Greybeards... possibly other Dragonborn as well since they seem to hint they do this with other dragonborn, but there are no recorded instances.

      Nonetheless, cool mod!

I like to put this mod mod in my game because it would make the greybeards more badass, but I pity Klimmek for his efforts of bringing food supplies for the greybeards.
