Hi guys, it's been a long time. What with the new graphical overhaul coming up and such I've come back and found things are pretty different. PerMa is awesome, tons of new things going on and while most of the core functionality here still works fine, there are some holes (e.g. Toxicity gets triggered during crafting for certain mods, Poultices mess you up in silly ways). This is a light update to address these things, I'll be running a new game with this mod installed (also have PerMa, CACO and Skooming Skyrim in my load order, let me know if stuff breaks for other mods).

The main goal is the same, compatibility without having to add a bunch of random mod-specific patches.

    - Toxicity Gains while Crafting - The core issue here is that there is no good way to test whether a potion was actually imbibed by the character. Several mods now have crafting recipes which 'consume' potions from your inventory (e.g. PerMa's potion combining at the cook pot). To distinguish, we now test for Crafting Menu Open when checking for toxicity, and this is confirmed working for PerMa and should cover any mod which has such recipes and uses the crafting menu (hand-held crafting items work fine as well for the mods that have those).

    - Random Weird Edge Cases - Some mods, either due to poorly placed keywords or specific mechanics, will end up triggering toxicity in stupid ways. The Poultices in Vigor/CACO are a prime example. The poultice is 'consumed' when you attempt to put it on a bandage (rather than when you actually select Yes). Additionally it's a bit weird that they trigger toxicity. Further sometime in the future some random mod might add some potion or other that you wish wasn't triggering toxicity for your game. There are a variety of ways to handle this, I decided to go with an exception list. It's pretty swanky I think. Basically go to the Whitelist in the MCM menu, type in some substrings and make your own exception list. I've even added a handy button to add Poultice and Salve to the exception list. And if, for some reason, you want potions with the letter 'q' in their name to not be toxic you now have that power.

    - Cure Disease Potion Toxicity - There's a toggle now to decide whether you want cure disease potions to be considered toxic. Default is on, but you can turn it off if you get annoyed that trying to use a potion to cure your potion addiction sometimes randomly causes to to immediately become addicted again.

    - Minimum Toxicity to Trigger Addiction - Lucian6667 added a patch to make a toxicity threshold (e.g. you must be this toxic before addiction is possible). I thought that this was both an awesome idea and also adds a really nice set of additional consequences of having high toxicity. Feature is in the MCM menu.

    - You abandoned us for years. For. Years. - Sorry. I wrote this as a student, then the real world happened. It will probably happen again. That being said, if I wander off and you have a desire to hack this guy apart and make it your own, go for it. I put a lot of work into getting this thing working for me, when I decided to put it up on Nexus I spent a lot more time making it work for the community (e.g. adding the MCM configuration). It belongs to all of us now, do as you will.

    Known Issues & Plans:

    - For some reason in my (heavily) modded game accepting cure disease from priests raises my toxicity. I'm not too mad about it (maybe they give me a potion), but I'm not currently sure what mod is causing it.
    - There have been many requests for adjustments to the widget (e.g. resize, hotkey, fade) all of these are good ideas and I want to do them. I am currently holding off on any widget changes until I have a better understanding of how/whether SkyUI is going to end up in Skyrim SE. Largely on whether I can rely on it to be there before committing the work that depends solely on that mod.

I see this file is quite old, but I'm wondering if its possible to get a toggle for the toxicity meter. I have a lot of mods that add hud and meters and such (frostfall, ineed, and so on) and its all disabled, with a toggle button Z that makes everything appear for a few seconds so I can check all my status at once while having no hud clutter at all other times. this mod would be PERFECT if we could toggle the meter!

Love this mod. It works really well and allows for a wide variety of role play.

Missing things like Skooma (should have been obviously), Velvet Le Chance....etc.

For anyone who wants to make anything add to addiction/toxicity:
Having the Keyword => VendorItemPotion [KYWD:0008CDEC] <= in the item will be recognized by this mod for toxicity.

    Procedure:
    - Use an ESP that is lower than Chasing The Dragon (ChasingTheDragon.esp)...this mod.
*I have my own krixost_foods.esp but a sorting mod would work well for this. Likely already has most foods, drinks, potions in there. If not then you will have to copy as override into your chosen esp.

    - TES5Edit your esp....I usually just leave all selected.
    - Now find the item you want in the "Ingestible' category....say > Drink: Skooma
    - go to KWDA - Keywords.....right click in the blank space....choose Add
    - replace the new NULL..... keyword with => VendorItemPotion [KYWD:0008CDEC]
    ..... rinse and repeat
    - Close Out and Save.

No need to drop items. They will be picked up right away.
    Hope this helps.
    =)

I love this mod. It makes so many different roleplaying available. I have a Nord warrior that is hooked on "steroids and stimulants" that is to say, the only potions he uses reguarly (or to alleviate addiction) are one handed, two handed, stamina, health and then ofc Skooma. I have a vampire that has become addicted to being invisible ALL THE TIME she is able to. So she abuses her vampyric powers together with lots of sneak and invisibility potions. My Nord warrior will become a deserter of the stormcloaks and soon "sell" his house and belongings because he now abuses skooma, stamina, health and potent resist frost potions. I might add some others, but he will end up as a beggar and commonly spend the night in jail for pickpocketing and stealing gone wrong. Skooma is darned hard to come by though and that is going to be his main fix at this stage of the game where he is a shell of the warrior he once was. My vampire has no issues because of her vast knowledge of alchemy she can mix the potions she needs herself and she is a marginally better thief than the Nord warrior.

Thanks for this mod! With a little imagination and some awesome modders, Skyrim becomes something new with so small twists!

Nice, I will start an Orc Shaman with some other mods like Triumvirate, spell research, and survival mods. He's a nomad, an alchemist, a healer, a sellsword, and wanders all over Skyrim caravan style (using campfire). He's obsessed with going beyond reality to contact the spirits and sometimes abuses substances too much. As a shaman, he wants to bring balance through life and death, physical reality and mental reality, but first needs to bring balance to himself. He broke the Code of Malacath years ago (he abused substances one day and made a big mistake) and was expelled from his clan, but tries to regain the stronghold's trust by helping his fellow orcs and giving them potions, healing services, and offering shamanic visions. With some luck, they will forgive him, and he will start his own stronghold (with the Orc Hearthfires mod).

Is anyone else having an issue with the MCM where you can’t disable Addiction? The button stays active/on regardless of how many times you press it...

I thought I'd finally be able to get a good skooma/drinking addiction mod that I could tweak as I wanted, only to find that it doesn't work for those two things
Good mod, but not what I want
