Jazrael Presents

Legend of the Vae

An ancient evil, long forgotten and hidden in the shadows has returned to Skyrim. The Vae, a Powerful sect of the evil Dragon Cult, mysteriously vanished during the Merethic Era. Rumours say that they have
reappeared over the centuries watching and waiting from behind the scenes, gathering strength and then returning to the Darkness from which they came. What is their ultimate purpose and who will put an end to their foul schemes?

EXTREMELY tough battles(Cannot be stressed enough)

The Quest
The quest starts either by courier or if you happen to come across the location of the enemies and slay the leader there. The courier will only arrive after youve answered the first summons of the Greybeards.

Difficulty
The mod is designed for high level, end-game characters(lvl 50 and upwards). I currently use E.R.S.O Overhaul, Duel Combat Hardcore; A.C.E. Combat-Skills, SkyTest Harder creatures and this mod was tested and balanced according to my game play. If you are not using any type of game play or combat overhaul then the mod should actually be easier or thats my theory anyway. For those using overhauls all I can say is Good Luck on expert and above. I have spent countless hours balancing and rebalancing the enemies and I am pleased with the final result. If you have serious troubles then its ok to just lower the difficulty. Please note that the some enemies and especially bosses have unique abilities and will require some serious innovation and strategy to defeat them.

Gameplay
Ive been a gamer my whole life so Ive tried to incorporate some of that in my mod. There are no quest markers or map markers so you will have to follow the instructions you are given as well as doing some adventuring. Once you enter the dungeon you will have to navigate through on your own. Tread carefully though. Inside the dungeon there are also areas where the map is disabled to make things more interesting. The dungeon also contains trap areas if you take a wrong turn. Also as Dragonborn I like to have a sense of accomplishment that I did have to have my followers with me all the way so I created areas that can be played alone with an access to your followers for the main combat. That does not mean you will not encounter any enemies so be weary.

Important Notes and Tips
Place the mod low in your loading order to be sure the quest starts
Take enough followers with you or you will be overwhelmed and overrun(YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED)
All puzzles work 100%. The clues to solving them are there so you just have to look around if you find yourself struggling
There is a hidden area inside the dungeon that can only be accessed by completing a certain task. Good Luck
Please ENABLE SUBTITLES when entering the main dungeon as Ive created a follower with custom dialogue when you first meet
DO NOT USE THE CONSOLE TO ACCESS ANY AREAS. Most things are linked inside the dungeon and will not work if you bypass anything

Consideration
There might be possible issues with lighting depending on what lighting mods you use. I set my lighting according to the vanilla settings so the dungeon might be darker or lighter.

Bugs and Issues:
This is not an actual bug but worth noting. Enemies in the boss areas will flee into the next level if you do not kill them so when you load the next level they can appear immediately.
I have not placed any enemies near the main loading areas but sometimes they are found patrolling there( I guess this adds to realism but can be annoying if you get killed before you know whats happening). Not my fault though
When you exit the dungeon for some reason the textures are blurry on certain objects. Its very minor though
There is a bug that sometimes causes the music from the mod to play after you've completed the quest and returned to Skyrim. Ive already put a fix out for the tavern music bug that does that but for my mod Ive had to make use of triggers and scripts to prevent this annoying bug from happening. At various exit points the music will cut out. This will not however affect your gameplay in any way. If the music does come up somewhere later in an interior then please open up the console and type removemusic 05VaeIsle. It shouldnt do this however but you never know
I created a cowl/half-mask for one of the characters. My mesh editing is basic but texturing is not so good. Anyway I still made it playable so its up to you to decide if its usable lol. I havn't tested the armor version on a female but male one works well with the armor its intended for
I also made a Capeless Nightingale Armor which uses a half-mask. Its female only
There should be nothing else but bugs can occur so please post anything major in the comments section
There is a mannequin in one of the rooms. The clothes do not always show when you load so activate it to get the armor

Installation/Uninstallation:
I use MO so Im not sure how NMM or Bain works but I suppose it should install automatically just fine. Uninstall the same way.
To manually install extract the files from the zip file and place them in the Data folder.
To uninstall delete the following files from the Data folder:
Legend of the Vae.esp
Legend of the Vae.bsa
Legend of the Vae.bsl
Open the SEQ folder also situated in the Data folder and delete the Legend of the Vae.seq file.
Make a clean save afterwards.

Background:
I started developing the mod in November 2013,with no level design experience whatsoever and on a humble Lenovo G560 laptop. The mod has seen its fair share of ups and downs(my hard-drive crashed and I lost all my data) but overall it's been a great experience to say the least. Hopefully I will create some more in the future but for now I'm happy with what I've achieved.

Please do not Re-Upload this mod on any other site. The mod uses several resources so the wishes of those authors have to be respected. Permissions for assets will have to be obtained from the individual authors. You can PM for me any questions regarding the mod and I will provide support as best I can.
