Dragonborn adds a separate Soul Trap spell that acts as a replacement for the original Soul Trap spell (why they couldn't just modify the original one is beyond me). This causes the Soul Trap spell to not work when your mod is installed, because your mod causes (for some reason - accidental edit?) spell tomes to still give you the Skyrim.esm Soul Trap spell (which doesn't work).
You really do need to make this mod effect black soul gems because they will frequently fill with petty souls and need to be able to be overwritten i have several black gems filled with greater and petty souls and the game keeps giving me no soul gem available errors when killing human bandits its really frustrating that you cant overwrite black gems
sometimes i get a message saying that one of my gems have been filled with a "grandlesser" soul or something of the sort. What does that mean? By the way, this mod is way too underappreciated. I had to endorse.
Capture Messages There are 2 versions of the mod. In one version when you capture a soul you will get a message such as "Greater > Grand". This would mean that you have captured a greater soul into a grand soul gem. "Common > GrandLesser" would mean you have captured a common soul into a Grand soul gem that was holding a lesser soul, so the lesser soul was overwritten. This was mainly for debugging purposes but I found I like it and you may find it useful to help you understand how the souls are being handled. The "No Msg" version of the mod does not have this message, only the standard "Soul Captured!" messagess etc.
It conflicts with the Soul Trap spell. When "firing" Soul Trap you typically see some kind of bolt heading towards the enemy, and if you were sneaking it makes it aware. With this mod activated I don't see the soul trap bolt, and the enemy doesn't react, and if I kill it I don't get any soul trapped. I don't know if this is just me Thanks
You are right, I have the same problem. I didn't notice because I have been playing with requiem, in which it works ok, but on vanilla the soul trap spell isn't working. I'm trying to figure out why at the moment.
Ok I tested it on a vanilla game and it all seems to work ok, so it must be a conflict of some sort, do you think you could tell me which mods you are using? It would help narrow it down.
Edit: After disabling the unofficial skyrim patch it seems to work. Do you use the unofficial skyrim patch? If so could you try disabling it and see if that fixes it. If it does then I will try to find out why.
I just tried while disabling everything (including the unofficial patch, among other thing) except Skyrim and it still doesn't work for me. I use many mods, is there an easy way to list them all other than typing them one-by-one?
Edit: found it

Well I believe I have fixed a problem with the unofficial skyrim patch, I know you don't think it was the USP but could you try downloading the new version of my mod and see if the problem still persists? If it does I will continue looking, but there certainly was a problem caused by the USP which should be fixed now.
And I believe you about the unofficial patch. After posting last evening,I downloaded and ran TES5 and it sowed potential conflicts with the unofficial patch. I didn't know how to post that information, since those tables are pretty long. And since I don't know what I am doing, I didn't touch anything. Also, I didn't seem to be able to uninstall the patch without the game crashing during load time, and didn't feel like reinstalling Skyrim.
Thanks again, I will let you know later this evening how it worked, but I have hope that you fixed it.
Well yes, kind of the whole point of the mod is to change the way soul gems / soul trap works. It probably wont be compatible with any other mods that do. What do you mean exactly?
Up until now I've always had acquisitive soulgems installed, sadly it is incompatible with mods like SeeEnchantments, I therefore wonder if your mod is also incompatible? If not I might start using yours instead.
Looking at that mod I can't really see any reason why it shouldn't be compatible, though it would depend how it works. My mod affects the soul trap effect which is used by soul trap enchantments but if that mod just changes enchantments then I think it should work. I'd suggest loading my mod after that one and trying it. Let me know if you do.

Please create a Dragonborn version of this mod.
