Nearly 10 years later, an update for this humble mod!
Spurred on by the release of a good mage robes retexture that allowed use of the assets. Now retextured in glorious 4K/2K thanks to the work of Xavbio.
It could be a conflict if you have any kind of mesh replacer. I'm not really sure, I haven't really looked at this mod in 7 years so I can hardly remember how it works! Is this with the male or female version?
The appearance, sorry i didn't answer b4, i actually forgotte i had commented XD
I was thinking of it with the appearance of the psiijic set with these same stats... maybe a enchantment that fortify spell power on the gloves thanks :D
There are already tons of mods that make psijic robes playable, I'm sure you could have your pick of stats. The appearance is basically the point of this mod...
Hey I'd like to make a suggesting to added some Mist Mage Gloves to this set and have the enchantment be something like "Increased Mana Regen by 50%" or something like that because I think having gloves to match the set would be awesome and yes I said Mana and not Magicka sorry if that irritates anyone I just prefer say Mana over anything else.
Any chance of different colors or patterns. I love the robes and use them through my whole play through beginning to end. Also glad you can use circlets with the hood. Keep up the great work.
I'm glad you like it! I feel like there are a whole lot of great mage robe retextures out there already, especially if you like different colors and patterns. I was going for a really colorless/plain look for a more humble sort of character, and I think that's the one thing that sets this version apart. If there's a really specific look you are interested in, let me know, and maybe I can whip something up.
If you like these robes for the stats but you prefer the textures from another mod, you could rename those textures and replace mine with them!
Yes, Elaborate Textiles is a great mod! For mage robes, I recently started using Mage Outfit Texture Overhaul which gives each robe subtle changes based on the school of magic associated.
If you want to swap out the textures on my robes, go in your Skyrim install folder and look in data/textures/clothes/mageapprentice/mist.
The texture files in there can be overwritten by textures of your choice, which you can copy/paste from the "m" and "f" folders in the mageapprentice directory. Make sure to match the file names exactly! For example, since I used one folder for both male and female robes, I had to rename two texture files from "robe.dds" to "robe_m.dds" and "robe_f.dds." The files "boots.dds" is shared by the male and female models.
So, as an example, if you have Elaborate Textiles installed and you want that look for the male robes, you'd go in the mageapprentice/m folder, copy robe.dds, paste it in place so you get robes_Copy.dds, rename that file robes_m.dds, cut the new file, go up to mageapprentice directory and paste it into the mist folder, allow it to replace the old file, and there you have it. The male mist robes will then have the Elaborate Textiles look. You can use this process for the female robes, the two hoods, the boots, or really any two textures with the same layout in the whole game.
Having a problem with the hood, equipping it gives the magika boost but it's invisible and my character's hair vanishes. I can also equip the novice hood over it. I do have mods to allow circlets and hoods to be worn together, so I wonder if the hood is reading as a circlet. I tried examining in TES5Edit but your mod doesn't have any records except location when I try.
It should show Armor Addon, Armor, Texture Set and Worldspace records. If it doesn't, it sounds like maybe the file didn't download right? That's an odd problem to have.
Anyway, I think I spotted an actual problem with the way the hood is set up. It doesn't have all the right race flags associated. I'm not sure how it ended up this way, but I'll fix it and re-upload it shortly. I'll double check which slot it uses, too, but that could be caused by your other mod.
I put up an updated .esp file. I flagged the hood as usable by a few races that I missed. Notably, orcs. I also enabled Khajit / Argonian, but results might be weird. Sometimes there are issues with custom races equipping items, but this set has always been flagged for "default race" and it's standard practice to add custom races to the "default" list so they can use standard items.
The set still isn't flagged for child races to use it, so it's unlikely to be compatible with playable child mods, depending on how they were set up.
If the update doesn't fix your issues, please tell me the specific race and gender of your character.
I also made sure the hood was using the proper item slots that hood items typically use. I noticed in the CK that there were several hoods that were flagged as circlets in the original game, including the Novice hood. That was probably a mistake on Bethesda's part, but I didn't try to "fix" it. That's well outside the scope of this mod. That is why you've been able to equip two hoods at once, though. It's a vanilla game issue.
I'm having the same problem: the hood is invisible on my male Altmer, the hair on top his head is missing and the hair on the sides and back of his head is slightly distant from his head.
I put up a new .esp update (2.2) that enables the hood for Altmer. I got rid of the old update since it was still kinda broken. As long as I was digging around in there, I flagged a bunch of other stuff like child races. Hopefully this won't be an issue anymore in any but the strangest circumstances!
I just tried this mod and I am not getting the grey color in the new outfits, but the "vanilla" color of the original meshes for those outfits. What might I be doing wrong?
That is mysterious. I guess first make sure that the texture folder installed right. Are you using custom meshes? That shouldn't be an issue, but it could be if the meshes don't use the default texture path.
Is it just the actual robe, or the boots and hood as well? Did you try it on both male and female characters?
Yes to all of your questions. I am indeed using custom meshes so that might be the problem. What I did for my personal copy is duplicate the custom meshes in a new folder called "meshes\clothes\mistapprentice", change the paths of the customized nif files to use the textures in your "meshes\clothes\mageapprentice\mist" folder, then change the paths in the Armor AddOns for the mist gear to use these retextured custom meshes. A little laborious, but worked just fine.*
Now that I can actually see what your new mage gear looks like in-game: endorsed!
*my female mage's boobies just had to bounce, you know!
I will probably do a matching hood at some point. It won't be very hard, I've just been lazy about it because my mage doesn't wear one. Thanks for checkin' out the mod anyway.

I'm using the updated .esp file.
NM -- my stupidity. I loaded the updated .esp and all is well :-)
I probably should update the main download file at some point!
