As always, save your game before you try out a mod, my mod is no exception.
This one is part of the trilogy of mods which expands the game enormously (a few Skyrim holds in total), by giving your player the possibility to venture behind the Skyrim borders. You'll meet new creatures, NPC's, ingredients, food, quests, followers, etc...
I made these mods myself, although I recieved support from various people who were happy to voiceact, helping me out with some issues I faced, giving me constructive feedback, and Jknjb in particular for making the AS-LAL Extension. I thank you all.
This work is almost finished, although it still needs a bit finetuning and some NPC's still need the right voices. You'll sure meet a few little issues, but please remember, I did this work for free. The main landscaping, quests and everything should work fine now.
Two important things you should do by playing my mods:
- After installing my mod (in fact this counts for every mod you have installed), always save your game and restart your saved game. Otherwise you won't hear dialogues from NPC's. - You have to unlock the borders, which is easy (read the description on the main page, or on the read me file, how to do so). Otherwise you'll get the message: ''You can't go that way'"
Compatible with: BS Bruma Beyond Reach The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal
After almost two years I returned with version 15.3 containing some fixes and a few alterations only. With this version I made:
- The quest you receive in Sukarnee a little bit more lineair. Tested this quest a couple of times and it really worked, you get your gear back after the quest if you play it the right way. If you only want to play easy quests, avoid this one. - Red's Blacksmith exterior is corrected and added a few other minor things. - Morreath's army has it's own armor (vanilla pieces, so don't expect much) but this is more consistent. - Some interiors were poorly done, so I added more furniture. - Made this mod more compatable with The Gray Cowl of Nocturnal. Moved the road further from Seviana's House a bit. - Added a few extra things (treasure) in a couple of dungeons and caves. - I don't have Gromm's pass add-on, but i worked around the area where it probably overwrote the entrance of that pass. I am not sure if I succeeded.
I'm really enjoying this. After finishing all the quests in Skyrim AE, I thought I would try some new land/quest mods.
I do have one complaint: After finishing the Reachman Hospitality quest. I never got my gear back. The chest was empty behind the guard. So I had to make new armor and weapons and enchant them. Can't trust those Foresworn lol.
Is this and your other land mods good to use with Rigmor of Bruma and Cyrodill?
I have tested this quest many times and it worked on my part, but somehow, and I don't why, it does not always seem to work by everybody, since I recieved more complains about the quest in Sukarnee not working properly. I honestly don't know how to solve this so I wrote a warning on the top of the description of my mod.
EDIT: tested it again and I got my gear back (21-03-'24). Quest seems to work fine.
Maybe someone can assist me; I have edited 4 different ini files w/ the (bBorderRegionsEnabled=0)line suggested in the Read Me file and I have also tried using the (bBorderRegijavascript-event-stripped0) line from previous posts, Yet I still cannot cross the border areas. I've even used both and still nothing. Oddly enough, on a few attempts, I was able to reach the first dead Imperial in the Reach area but then other times I could not get to him. I can see the different (brighter) green foliage and several other corpses (hear the flies buzzing) I've also attempting going thru the Folkpass (sp?) but when I go thru the opposite side *reads "to Skyrim"* it puts me right back on inside again. Any pointers on where to find the correct ini file to edit perhaps?? Am I missing something else? I'd really like to play thru this mod. Looks very promising and sounds amazing from all accounts that have gotten in :)
Update: I spent several hours attempting different ini edits with no luck; however installing the Nexus Mod "Skyrim Borders Disabled" did the trick. (https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/35815) Curious why manual editing did not work but THRILLED to be on the "other side of things now" So far looks amazing!!
Hi! I'm installing this mod along Haafstad and Nyhus, can't wait to try them! Just out of curiosity, what were the conflicts with Nothern Encounters and what are the differences between the version of optional file esp (v15) and the other of the main one (v15.2)?
There seem to be two alternate downloads. What is the difference between the two? I couldn't find any description of the alternatives on the main page.
When you are playing all my three mods, you might better use the LOD version to avoid LOD problems. I forgot to add this description, so I just added it. But it is also safe to use the normal file.
Hi, do you know where is key for gates in "Dwarven Ruin First Layer" (From quest "Reachmen Hospitality"), please? It should be part of this mod. Console command unlock doesn't work there and for unlock I need have a key. ?
Hi Joopvandie sadly I have to report that Black Screen Bug, entering the passages is still Alive too even worst, bertoost fix the Same Bug in AHO maybe it could help to you:
I touch upon how the fix works very briefly in the description of the mod; basically, the problem is that the door markers, which tell the game where to place your character after entering or leaving AHO, are placed too close to the doors themselves. In this case, these "doors" aren't literally doors, but it is the same thing that is used to place your character in a cave when you walk into a cave mouth. Here's how you can make a fix like this yourself:
Open the mod that has the issue in the Creation Kit
Navigate to the place where the issue occurs
Move the door marker (they look like transparent colored blocks) further away from the door. You'll probably have to do this for both sides of the door. It's hard to know how far away the markers should be placed. If you moved them and the problem still occurs in game, move them further away.
Save your changes as a new plugin
Create an empty mod in your mod manager and put your plugin in it
Load the plugin after the mod that you're fixing, and you can test if it works in your game
I do hope that you guys can work together to make this mod work with Northern Encounters better. None of it is game breaking, just a LOT of clipping and weirdness.
I too have the "black screen bug" when going into certain passages and into and out of certain caves. I noticed that it mostly happens when I go in/out when I have followers with me. When I go in/out by myself, the problem is not there. Hmmmm.
Hi dev, firstly your mods look amazing. Would love to be able to say it from the heart, but they won't seem to work for me. I just downloaded all three and disabled borders, but when traveling there I just find the vanilla outskirts, nothing but emptyness. Any idea why?

I only worked on the esp file, not on the bsa.
Also made a Northern Encounters patch.

Does this mod Work on Skyrim Anniversry Edition 1.6.159 gog version. Somehow when I downloaded the 3 mods does not load. Am I doing something wrong?

Ps: thanks for supporting Oldrim ;)
I thank you very much in advance.
- Hopefully fixed the passage issues
- Vrostheim received some love
- A few changes in the Reach area
- An inn near Folkstead
If you still have problems with the passages, please let me know.

Will hopefully be solved with the next upload. Soonish.
