Do I need to feed him if I send him back home? Or can he feed himself alone while at home?

Ok so i haven't had this mod for a long time (Chinook is still a small bean), but I also have the dynamic wolf follower mod. I tried putting in some mods for multiple followers, but it messed the game up and Chinook disappeared. I took them off, but I can't find him anywhere. Eventually, I just deleted the whole thing and then reinstalled the mod but he won't show back up at Faldar's tooth? Is there any way to get him back because I really liked the mod.

There hasn't been much activity in here in a long while, but I'm wondering if there will be any future updates to Chinook. He's pretty great, but mostly he just looks nice. He doesn't do much damage, and I can't use him the way I can most other companions, since he's not compatible with Amazing Follower Tweaks.

Any chance of Bear Armor being a thing? With the saddle he can equip armor, but it doesn't show up visually, and I'm not actually sure he's getting any bonuses from it, but since he can't die that doesn't really matter.

When I tell him to go home he just sits down where he is and never actually does go back to Hjerim, where I set his home as.

Lastly, when I dismount from him after riding, I'm no longer able to interact with him anymore. I can live without riding him, but it would still be nice.

Hi, I know this has been said a billion times but haven't seem to find an answer. Just want to start off by saying that this is an awesome mod and thank you a lot for it! I have a problem after riding Chinook I cant talk to him or select him, his health bar doesn't even has his name on it. I have tried disable/enable, reload, re add him via console but to no avail. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Did you happen to rename Chinook before you tried to ride him?

This is a problem that I think comes from follower management mods--I have it sometimes when directing animal followers through EFF/AFT (it occurs with both). One solution that works for me (more consistently with EFF or no management mods than with AFT) is to rename the bugged actor with Jaxonz Renamer by targeting them in the console. It's not perfect, but it does work.

Firstly, a huge thank you for your time & skill in making this mod. I am enjoying Chinook immensely, & he hasn't even reached an adult size yet. I have questions regarding feeding him.

    1) Generally, I give him a hunk of venison twice a day & he gets full. Will his feeding requirements increase with his size?

    2) I don't know how much work would be involved, but have you given any thought to incorporating food items from the "Hunterborn" mod? A person can get quite a bit of meat from saber cats, spiders, mudcrabs, etc. Originally, I had intended to feed him the dragon meat I was harvesting from kills, but then I realized he wouldn't eat any non-vanilla meats. As Hunterborn alows a person to forage for things like edible mushrooms, insects, & roots, it would be nice if Chinook could also eat these things. They are part of a normal bear's diet.

Also, it wouldn't be a bad idea if Chinook was able to forage at the same time as the player. I've had followers like Lydia or Meeko help gathering firewood, Chinook would be a natural at digging up roots or maybe landing a few fish.

Anyway, I apologize for writing so much. Thanks again. This mod is definitely going on my list of essentials.

      1) As far as feeding, you can usually get away with feeding Chinook 1-2 times a day. I actually did try to make feeding requirements increase with size, but that made feeding too tedious.

      2) This actually wouldn't be too difficult to implement. I may add this functionality in the future!

As far as implementing custom behaviors like foraging, I'd have to clean the rust off my Papyrus skills before I could go about doing that. It'd take some time, but it's definitely something I'll look into if I start making a version of this mod for SSE.

No worries about the long post. Thanks for your suggestions, and enjoy the mod!

Absolutely love this mod. The combination of it maturing over time as a companion and serving as a mount too is so cool.
Is there also any possibility of a cave bear variant in the future?

If you've got the Creation Kit, making Chinook a cave bear is pretty simple. You can also change Chinook's skin by replacing his default texture file with a cave bear skin. I can walk you through either method if you're interested.

Hey first off Happy Holidays to you! Chinook is fully grown and ride able. Unfortunately i've encountered 2 glitches. !. After i ride him and dismount him he's no longer selectable like before. But i only encounter this after i dismount him. The 2nd issue may be how u intended it and plz tell me if its so. The dialogue option to feed him has vanished once he was fully grown. It still saying hes hungry though. I also have the command feed spell so is that meant to replace the feeding option in dialogue?

You're not able to mount Chinook again after you've mounted him? It could be that he was pushed out of the quest alias that grants him a different name when you rename him: this has happened when I've tested the mod before. Unfortunately, I wasn't able to find a fix that worked 100% of the time. I need to write some kind of regulatory script to counter this issue, although I'm of the mind that it'll do more harm than good in your case, were you to try one out... The only advice I can give if the problem persists is to try resetting the mod by uninstalling it, saving, and then doing a reinstall. Chinook will be back at Faldar's Tooth at cub size, but you should be able to change him back to his previous size by using the console. It's dirty, but it should put Chinook back in the appropriate quest alias. Even so, I'd only recommend using that method if you've exhausted all other options and can't wait for me to write an appropriate regulatory script.

As for the dialogue option for feeding Chinook disappearing: it should've been replaced by either "Let's trade some things." or "Want to trade?". You can still feed Chinook by giving him food using these options.

I've gotta say it again, man: I'm really grateful that you're still giving this mod a chance through all this. I really hope you've enjoyed the parts of it that work. :/

After i ride him and dismount him he's no longer selectable at all. I can't interact with him at all, but he is still stuck "following" me. As far as the feeding is concerned Maybe you should write somewhere that when he's fully grown his feeding dialogue is automatically replaced. I only suggest it because i couldn't figure it out until you told me He's a great little companion to my druid...more like her child than companion. Im happy to use the mod, it's a great piece of immersion and you're always so responsive i just feel bad always giving you problems

Could you make a version that has him already fully grown?

You should be able to set him at his adult size using console commands. Just open the console, click on Chinook, and type in "setscale 1.1" before pressing enter.

Alternatively, you can set Chinook's default size yourself using the Creation Kit (although the console method is far less of a hassle, IMO).

      Hope that helps!

I think I must've changed one of the conditions on one Chinook's AI packages. Weird that the wait function was working for me in spite of that when I tested it... Anywho, I think I've fixed the problem. It'll take a bit to test the mod more thoroughly, though: I don't want to release yet another version of the mod simply for bug fixes if I can help it. :/

I should really be thanking *you*. If you hadn't informed me of these issues, I likely would have never noticed that they existed. So thank you!
The updated version should be out, now, by the way. I've checked and double checked every feature; everything is in working order as far as I can tell. Hopefully you're able to enjoy the mod to its fullest this time!

Hey so wow! Ty! he wakes up sleeps follows without a hitch. Oddly enough he has stopped eating and being hungry. It has been a while since hes accepted any raw meat i have hunterborn ineed and cooking expanded do you think its one of them or maybe a load order issue? When i say he won't accept food i mean it always says that he can't carry that any ideas

That may be the issue. Chinook can only be fed vanilla foods: anything introduced by a mod will be rejected. Still, it may be another problem I failed to iron out. :/

I'll look into it and get back to you when I can.

Feeding Chinook seems to be working fine. It may be that you fed him a lot within a short space of time: if you feed him at regular intervals 2-3 times a day, he should be able to "digest" what you've given him quickly enough... That's what's supposed to happen if the scripts are working correctly, at least.

The mod should tell you that Chinook is hungry only when he's "digested" all of the food he's eaten. This should take anywhere from 6-7 hours to a couple of days, if you don't feed him in the meantime.

Let me know if you're still having issues, even with that knowledge. It may be that certain global variables aren't changing like they should on your end.
