It's okay, I'm not a particularly linguist either, only Google Translator saves me. But the moment that there are no working files left is of course a pity. Unfortunately, I cannot create anything from scratch, eh ...Okay! Thank you for the detailed answer and special thanks for the feedback in such a short time, such efficiency is extremely pleasant.
Here I am wondering how I didn't find this mod earlier. The only gripe I have is that the tome colors don't all match up with Opulent Outfits, but it's one I can live with.
I really like the style of your meshes, so I'm using them to give a unique look to a custom spell tome in a personal mod. Unfortunately I either can't find a file for inventory art or it doesn't exist. Is there a nif file for the inventory art that I'm missing? EDIT: Never mind, didn't realize I was forgetting to create a static.
Hello! These look great and I would love to use them, but the .nif files (such as SpellTomeAlteration.nif) seem to conflict with the ones from HQ Paper by Anarin (which only replaces the paper textures in books). This seems odd to me, considering that the two mods do entirely different things... >_>
What do you mean exactly when you say they conflict? Does it make the game ignore the HQ paper textures?
I'll have a look at Anarin's mod and see if there's anything that could be causing problems, though I see no reason why the two should be incompatible.
Oh, I haven't tested this in-game yet, but the Nexus installer seems to think that the .nif files from your mod and the ones from Anarin are the same (probably since they have the same names), which causes it to ask if I want to overwrite them or not. I guess I'll just do some testing and report back!
Edit: okay, overwriting the spellbook .nif files from Anarin's mod causes the game to ignore the spellbook paper textures while replacing their covers. All other paper textures are unaffected, so I can live with that!
Noticed your edit only now. Looks like just a tiny conflict. You can't actually read spell books anyway so it's not much of a problem really. Thanks for testing it out
Thanks for checking back! And to clarify, I meant that overwriting causes the spellbook tomes (with stories in them) to revert to vanilla paper textures.
Could you make another file that makes these replace only the Master level spell tomes? This will make them look more ornate, and add more variety to the spell tomes ingame.
It's doable. I'll put up an alternate download at some point in the future, but right now I got two other mods I'm working on, and not that much free time
Love them, love them, loooove them! So much that I was really disappointed not to see nice shiny covers on the load screens! I totally understand why though... annnd I have a quick solution if you're interested?
Copy your low poly meshes and edit their orientation markers (BSInvMarker): X: 1570 Y: 0 Z: 3141 Zoom: 1.300
Save as LoadScreenSpellTomeAlteration.nif, LoadScreenSpellTomeConjuration.nif, blah, blah, in \meshes\loadscreenart and voila, lovely loadscreen spell tomes
Ah, hadn't thought of the load screens. I suppose I could retexture those as well. Thanks for the NifSkope tip though, don't have all that much experience editing meshes and anything new that I learn is welcome
Heh, that was the shortest time I've had a personal patch installed! Happy to help out, that orientation marker is actually for the inventory view, but I guess the devs decided it was simpler to use it for the load screens as well, instead of handling it in the CK.
Thanks a lot for the update and for crediting me too, that's really sweet
PS How many loads did it take before you finally saw a tome?
You may want to have a look at offering replacers for the spell book meshes as well since you still appear to have the vanilla UV mapping issues with these books at the moment (specifically the lower left corner of the front cover and the front cover at the left edge near the spine).
If these are still the vanilla book meshes with the new textures applied, have a look at Better Book Mesh or simply copy one of the standard book meshes from Book Covers Skyrim, rename it to act as a replacer for the spell book meshes you are using and point it to your new textures.
I was actually using a mesh and textures from an old version of your mod. Checked out the new version, and as you said, it's much better. Updated and uploaded a new version. Thanks for the heads up
Finally, a replacer for all those ugly vanilla spell tome textures that looks appealing & lore-friendly at the same time. Will come back to endorse once I've picked up a spell tome & have found no issues/bugs. Peace.
