    Well guys, it's finally here. The FINAL version. This was a nice little experiment to figure out how to load a mod before anything else without using a plugin; and now that the method has been perfected, there's not much to update. Just remember the answers to these common questions:

    1. No, this mod will not interfere with your other mods. Even THAT one.
    2. MO users should place USLEEP after this mod in their load order.
    3. The High Res DLC is included in the HD version of this mod. You can disable the DLC in Steam to save disc space.
    4. It's up to you whether or not to use the UHRP or not. I don't think that the UHRP and USLEEP conflict enough to be worth it. You might.
    5. Yes, you really do have to re-run Textures Install.vbs every time you validate game cache integrity with Steam.
    6. The HD version of this mod should be considered two halves of the same file. Install them both. (Unless you don't have any DLC.)
    7. If the file says "Extract Me," extract it. If not, install it with your mod manager.

    I recommend getting Nitpick in addition to this mod if you don't use ModOrganizer.

    No matter how many times I've tried using this set of mods, it always seems to break something in my files. Thankfully MO makes this easy to fix, but still. I either end up with fog textures looking like minecraft blocks, nearly all races end up with purple faces, or some other weird texture effect is butchered.
    If it works for others, awesome. But I had to uninstall and move on.

    I downloaded the SD version manually and extracted the files to the desktop, threw the 4 files one by one in the vortex and I was doing its installation. well, it worked for me.

    better explanation:
    1- download the SD version(Standard Definition Textures for ModOrganizer Users)
    2- extract somewhere on your computer.
    3- With the files extracted, throw them in the vortex and do the installations.
    4- load the loot and organize the mod loading order.
    5- enjoy the mod.

    Installed the SD version, do i need to do some .ini editing and whatnot installed from MO2?

    there's no aforementioned texture.vbs in the sd one and i don't know how stable just copying the "sResourceArchiveList2=" part of the ini edits in here with just changing the HD to SD and removing the "- Original.bsa" files.

    also the vanilla SD for this is the the same as the original skyrim - textures.bsa, maybe rename and add it to the .ini's "sResourceArchiveList2=" ?
    any help and insight on this would be dandy.

      I'm in the same boat. I replaced the vanilla texture.bsa with the one provided in the standard download and I have to assume that forced it to work, but I still have pink head (unless I adjust complexion slider once) and some open faced helmets have pink textures around the eyes. So I'm thinking of patching it together with the original somehow so the vanilla ones fill in the holes.

    --- How to Install the HD version of this for MO2 Users ---
    I was very fortunate to read the mod forum sections and found out that this mod is intended to be Installed on MO not the newest MO2

    Problem :
    You can check(pun intended) this mod in the MO2 interface but it won't get loaded into the game.
    Solution :
    You should check them first if you haven't then,
    In skyrim.ini go to [Archives] and add the BSAs from this mod to "sResourceArchiveList2."

    It should then look like this:

    [Archive]
    sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa
    sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa, Skyrim - HD01.bsa, Skyrim - HD02.bsa, Dawnguard - HD.bsa, Dragonborn - HD.bsa, HearthFires - HD.bsa

    Note :
    MO2 have different skyrim.ini for each profiles though, so you should use the ini editor from MO2 to add the BSAs NOT the one in the ROOT or the Documents folder.

    Is there anyone can help me, i just tried install Standard Definition Textures for MO manually and now my skyrim always crash when i open it.

    Finally i know how to fix it.
    so if you want to install directly from the Skyrim data folder, don't download the MO version but use the NMM version then move all the BSA files to the data folder then rename it according to the original BSA file, after that move the files in the DLCs folder > Strings then select according to the language you use and move it to the Strings folder in the Skyrim Data.

    Okay, I have tried to understand the install process for Mod Organizer 2, but it is not at all clear, and seems to be missing information.
    I strongly suspect that the info here is intended solely for the original Mod Organizer and not Mod Organizer 2.

    The steps I followed:

    1) download and install High Definition Base Game Textures for Everyone (Part 1 of 2) using MO2 - done
    (I want the high def textures, so I ignored the standard def ones, and they're included in the high def anyway)
    2) download and install High Definition DLC for ModOrganizer Users (Part 2 of 2 - Extract Me) as three separate mod installs - done

    The problem is I suspect the game is ignoring the new BSAs since they have no connection to an ESM or ESP and they have no entry in skyrim.ini.
    There is a visual basic script for "NMM-Wrye Bash Users" that seems to do a variety of things. Renaming original BSAs and/or adding entries to skyrim.ini, but this is stated to be not necessary for MO users.
    The question is, does this mean the old MO, or the new MO2, and is there a difference so it should be done differently?
    Because I suspect this needs to be done, based on the explanation given in "Why my mod does what it does" in the forum tab.

    Then I read a bunch of comments below that are all over the place on the issue re: MO2.
    And some seem to have issues with pink face textures, where some are advocating disassembling the BSAs into loose files, which would naturally override all others.

    Help tony971. Could you please clarify your instructions re: MO2? If this is not clear to me, then it is unclear to everyone.

    And if, as I suspect, the BSAs are not being properly registered but the defaults are being used, how would anyone easily know?

      Follow up: it looks like MO (not MO2) had a feature that allowed the loading of loose BSAs without ESM/ESPs, but that "it was removed or hidden as experimental due to inconsistent behavior." I don't believe that it was included in any way in MO2. And I think that is the feature that the original install method here for MO is expecting to utilize.

      I am becoming pretty certain that for MO2 that you need to either edit skyrim.ini or unpack all the BSAs from these mod files as you install them, since loose files take precedence.

      I am thinking that editing skyrim.ini manually is the better way. I am uncertain about using the VBS script, and it looks like there may be issues with it working correctly in Windows 10.
      Based on the comments in the explanation given in "Why my mod does what it does" in the forum tab and the vbs install script for non-MO managers, I think this may be the procedure:

      Open skyrim.ini and look for the two lines (sResourceArchiveListsResourceArchiveList2) as follows:
      sResourceArchiveList=Skyrim - Misc.bsa, Skyrim - Shaders.bsa, Skyrim - Textures.bsa, Skyrim - Interface.bsa, Skyrim - Animations.bsa, Skyrim - Meshes.bsa, Skyrim - Sounds.bsa

      sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa

      All those entries should all be in there if using Legendary Edition and you have UNINSTALLED the Bethesda HD pack as suggested.

      I am pretty sure that "Skyrim - Textures.bsa" should be replaced with "Skyrim - HD01.bsa, Skyrim - HD02.bsa".

      But I am less sure if there also needs to be added to the next line (sResourceArchiveList2):
      "Dawnguard - HD.bsa, HearthFires - HD.bsa, Dragonborn - HD.bsa".
      And whether the renaming of the original DLC BSAs to "(DLC name) - original.bsa" needs to be done.

      It would end up like this on one line (note that the three original BSAs for the DLCs would have to be renamed as shown in there (possibly)):
      "sResourceArchiveList2=Skyrim - Voices.bsa, Skyrim - VoicesExtra.bsa, Dawnguard - Original.bsa, Dawnguard - HD.bsa, HearthFires - Original.bsa, HearthFires - HD.bsa, Dragonborn - Original.bsa, Dragonborn - HD.bsa".

      I think so based on the VBS and what I understand about BSA handling, but I don't know at all with certainty.

      I can certainly test, however I am uncertain how to even tell if the BSAs are being loaded, since by definition they should look identical to the originals.

      Hi. Thanks for your thorough explanation. I'm also stuck at the same point. Have you tested? How can I help us? (I use MO2, LOOT and TESS5Edit: tell me what to do and I try to do it).

      PS: I used your suggestions related to the skyrim.iniFirst of all, I started the clean game, wandered around a bit.Then I started again, this time using the mod and changing the ".ini" file, according to your suggestions.In my opinion, the trick works but I'm not sure at 100% because, as you say, how can we be sure that it is not using the basic settings?

      In a forum where I posted the problem, they advised me to I have 2 possibilities:
      using mod organizer 1, for skyrim legendary is more than enough;
      or take out the bsa when you install the mod. To extract the bsa you have to go in MO2 to settings-plugins-bsa extractor and next to enabled there must be true, click twice to change the value.
      They don't recommend to change the INI.

      @Anegative So I think us MO2 Users can only extract them to loose files, but then where should i place them in priority after the original BSA files?
      Since as far as I know the lower it is the more it's gonna replace textures as loose files.

      Hope I Can find help on this.

      PS: Tried to replace the original ones in skyrim data folder while i backed up the original, then removed the optimized ones from MO2 the game crashes after logo no matter what, so I guess loose files it is.

    What's the difference between this mod and Bethesda performance textures? Which one has more performance increase? Or are they both the same?

    Is it okay if I don't load string files when loading the mod?
