If you would rather have a version that has separate taxes for each hold, take a look at Taxes of the Nine Holds, made by thesniperdevil with Simple Taxes as the basis.

Hello! I like the idea of taxing my properties but I also like the idea of getting taxed in separatly in each hold. So I'm thinking of using both your mod AND the Taxes of the Nine Holds. I don't think there would be any problems with that but because you said that the Taxes of the Nine Holds used your mod as a basis I have to ask. Will there be any problems if I use both or is it ok? Thanks in advance!

There won't be - no. Unless he used the same prefixes and record IDs as my mod but I don't think he did.

You'll have an overall property tax and hold tax in this case. I'm not entirely sure they'll work together, as I haven't dug into his mod, but they should, yeah.

Thanks for the reply. I installed them together and everything seems to work fine. I haven't paid any taxes yet so only time will tell!

I like your mod better since it auto increases the tax with each house/horse owned instead of having to increase it manually, lol.

Version 3.5 has been released, with follower support

3.5 has added follower support, though it's currently manual only.

Note: The courier might not always be punctual. The next cycle for tax days only starts after they've collected your taxes though, so you won't have any issues with that.

    Future Plans:

Version 4.0 will be a big update, but it remains to be seen when it will come, if at all. I've been really busy IRL and with other modding projects, and Simple Taxes isn't a huge priority. I'll fix any bugs, but other than that, no new features until I feel like getting around to it. So here are the features I'll add next update:

    - Tell the courier to wait and he will stay where he is and you can them activate him to give him taxes. He will only wait x amount of time before going.
    - Option where taxes are based on percentage (changeable percentage)
    - Option to lock you out of your house if you reach a certain debt threshold
    - Button to check your current stats (houses, horses, etc. owned) in the MCM.
    - Auto checking for follower count
    - Income tax

    Requests:

I don't have time to take any requests now, or respond to all your comments, so sorry for that. Most likely, the features for version 4.0 will be the last for some time.

Nice mod but I think I found a bug. I had already bought Breezehome when I installed this. It didn't seem like I was getting taxed. So I used the mod compatibility option to add a house and then it seemed to work fine ( the money value was exactly what I set it as )

Very strange. Quick question, though I'm not sure if you could remember it - before you installed the mod, under your Stats in the menu, was Houses Owned at 1? This is a vanilla game regulated value and used by Simple Taxes, thus counting the houses shouldn't be an issue of ST.

      Lol I never checked.

Anyway, it's not a big deal Just needed to add a house through a menu. No hassle at all. But just letting you know.

EDIT: I just checked my house count in stats and it was 4. So I waited a week ( my pay tax time ) and got taxed for 4 houses. So I reduced the count by 3. So it seems to be working fine now.
I'm not sure what the problem was at the start.

Unfortunately this mod doesn't work for me. It downloaded fine with NMM and I was able to access the MCM in game and change my configurations for the mod no problem. When I opened the game I got the message saying I have to pay taxes, and I got and read the guidebook, so the mod is correctly installed.

However, I never got taxed. I set my interval to 24 hours, and it's been many many in game days and still no tax. I have immersive taxing turned off, and I tried it with it on too - no luck. Taxes of the nine holds has the same problem.

I deleted the mod. If you have a fix, I will re download. Thanks.

I've found no one else with an issue such as this yet, and it's been quite some time since the last update was out. I don't have time to check this out right now, but the courier will come onLocationChange and the technical taxing should just be happening. You have to wait the first interval for taxes even after you change it, so if it was at a week before or something then it will be a week for the first one and then change to what you have. Are you sure it's not that?

Will this cause instabilities if using companion mods? Scanned with TES5edit and found no issues with my loadout

I would love to see you add taxes for chickens, cows, servants/employees, and maybe allow for a percentage of the value of the houses to adjust the taxes.

Hello! I'd really like to try this mod but I did some tests and something works wrong. I don't get any bounty when I refuse to pay or when I just don't have the money for it. I know the system of debts, but there even when I choose several times the option to pay with 0 gold they never seems to claim their money.

I use MO2, and I tested it with no other mods except SKSE, SKUI, Alternate Start and of course Simple Taxes, and the result is the same.

Do please someone had the same issue?

    Good mod.

I have mod that changes coin weights to be realistic CoinsOfTamriel. Don't want to be lugging around 15,000 septims. There should be an option where it deducts your coins from a safe or jewellery box of your choice instead.

Just started a new game, with one follower and all the options toggled on so that
    a) I should be taxed after 24hrs for them and b) a tax collector should come find me.
After just over a week, I don't seem to have been taxed and the game crashes if I stand around somewhere and wait more than a day or so.
Not sure if the crash is due to the taxperson spawning, or just from my excessive waiting and the game's general instability.
I did receive the book & notification, but it has been 3 game days since then, as well.

Here's my load order, which is pretty light at the moment:
    https://pastebin.com/fyFG7NKd

It's a little messy, but other than maybe Realestate, nothing should be conflicting, or even interacting at all for that matter...
EDIT: I tried changing cells, including going in and out of buildings, and also walking to the next town, but still no couriers/tax collectors.

I've got his mod working with Skyrim SKSE64. It was a simple conversion. However, since it's got new script and you'd like to test the file. Please let me know. It seems to be working well. I've gotten the pop ups when I buy proper, or own a horse. The tax guy comes and collections the money. Love this mod man. Gives me a reason to use my money in Skyrim SE. This is a must have in my load order. Woot, woot. Thank you for this amazing mod. It loads well in the MCM in Skyrim SE too.

Another great mod to use your money is "Mixed Unit Tactics" Also ports well to SE. Combine both these mods and you will STRUGGLE to keep all your followers fed, plus pay all your taxes. You WILL need to adventure, invest, etc... to make money. Other mods that make increase bounty rewards are vital (missives, Increase bounty golds, etc..). Really makes the economy in skyrim come alive and you will no longer be rich. Plus with the tactics mod you will have a use for all your extra gear now too.

    Hi there!
Great mod! You can have 10 followers but they leave you bankrupt.
I have an issue. I loose all my gold (1845g) for taxes but have not any follower or house or horse
I set payments each day (24 in mcm). Please fix it!! I cant live without this mod now!!! :)

      Same here!
There's no indication of how much & when you're gonna be charged, and no breakdown of the tax.

I'm thinking of disabling every tax except follower tax, pretending it's called "party upkeep cost" instead of "tax", setting follower count to 1 & calculating the total cost myself.
My formula would be the sum of a small amount for house maintenance, some dog food expenses, a larger amount for horse maintenance, a large salary for mercenaries + a fraction of your treasure gains for friendly followers.
I'd imagine that the courier is just some guy whose job is to carry cash around.
That would make most of the mod redundant, of course, but you'd still have the convenience of the game automatically demanding money instead of having to remember to do it.

You know what, I'm starting to think that a good upkeep mod should do just that: let you configure your own list of daily expenses.
An "upkeep pledge" power that would ask you for a text input for the name of the expense (jaxonz renamer has a textbox so it can be done) & some form of inputting a quantity (ideally a slider or a text input that parses a number (& asks again if you didn't write a number)). Then it spawns a weightless "upkeep pledge" note with the expense name & quantity in the name, and, as long as you have it in your inventory, you have to pay that amount.
I'd also rather set a per day amount & have the mod automatically multiply that amount by the number of elapsed days. Otherwise you have to recompute every single cost if you want to change the interval but keep the same expense rate.
