BOOK COVERS SKYRIM - LOST LIBRARY SUPPORT CLOSED : October 2016

After four years of playing Skyrim and over two and a half years of developing and supporting Book Covers Skyrim I am moving on from Skyrim and stopping support and maintenance of the Book Covers Skyrim and Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library mods. I have removed my modded Skyrim install from my SSD and cleared the space for new games.

I have had great fun creating the covers and supporting players using them but I feel that the mod is now complete. Apart from known issues with triple-monitor Widescreen play, I believe the mod to be error-free and stable.

I will update the Nexus permissions to allow ANY and ALL use and modifications to Book Covers Skyrim and its assets with the single proviso that you credit me and link back here. There are stocks used in this mod that require accreditation so please respect this. If you want to take the raw PSD files of the mod and make your own covers, feel free to do so. They are in the Misc Files section of the mod.

Thanks for the company and have fun!

    Daniel.

I am very happy to report that nvnvshuang has created a CHINESE language translation for almost the entire Book Covers Skyrim - Lost Library mod.

This optional ESP represents several months of meticulous translation work and was especially difficult because many of the books in the Lost Library come from older TES games which were never made available in Chinese. Only a few of the Michael Kirkbride books are left untranslated in English because, let's be honest, Michael was somewhat on the strange side!

To use the Chinese translation, just download the Lost Library as usual and then overwrite the ESP with the one in the Optional Chinese Language download. This new ESP only affects the written words inside the books, not the textures themselves.

I have not had an opportunity to test the ESP as I no longer have a working Skyrim install but if you come across any issues, I am sure that both I and nvnvshuang will be able to assist.

    Enjoy!

Does anyone know where I could find a complete list of the added books, trying to collect them all and having an actual list would help me greatly.

i found a grave, knapsack and journal -book collector's, at Merryfair farm. it's all from Legacy of dragonborn museum but apparently it's this mod that integrated into legacy. soooo the journal tells a tale that sounds like a quest of collection books. talks of a cave around shor's watchtower. but i'm not finding anything...

if this all just some ambiance stuff or is there an actual quest and cave? thanks

This is something I put in to offer a breadcrumb trail to a cache of the 36 lessons books since it was unlikely that a lot of them would be encountered randomly in a normal playthrough. Once you have found the correct watchtower there should be a view leading to the cave (within a few hundred yards) the book collector mentioned. I can't remember if I left a note at the watchtower or not - it has been a long time. There will certainly be another note inside the cave if you have the correct one.

Hi there! The cave you are looking for is Tolvald's Cave. You have to go quite deep into it, you know you are in the right part when you cross a dwarven bridge with a lot of water pouring down over it.

I am having a peculiar problem with this mod. While the first lot of books I found (Including the very nearly, but not completely, complete set of the Lessons of Vivec which I found in a cave) went into the bookshelves of the "Legacy of the Dragonborn" Gallery Library without problem, all Lost Library books I found or bought since then will not get accepted into the shelves. This is very frustrating, as by now I have the full set - but I have to stash the newer parts of it in a different shelf, manually. I tried removing the set and replacing it but it will only accept those books from my first haul. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Edit. I may have found what causes this - I have a mod that lets me take books without reading them first (it's called Take Books Sometimes or something) which causes some books to be duplicated, hence they will have different IDs, hence only the one I actually ended picking up (because I dropped a lot of the duplicated books because I didn't know better) that had the correct ID was accepted into the Legacy shelves. I hope this helps others who run into the same problem - pick up both versions and then let Legacy decide which one it wants.

    Edit #2:
It wasn't the other mod. I have uninstalled it but still get duplicate books and have that same problem in other playthroughs. This is very sad, as my sole reason for installing Legacy of the Dragonborn was that I wanted the best and most amazing library I could get. :/ Any help is still appreciated.

Crashing on startup with this mod. I've used it plenty of times before with no issues. Wrye Bash is reporting a mismatched .bsa, maybe that's it. Gone through all my mods, even tried starting with just this and the main book covers mod, still crashing. The main mod does not crash without this one.

Huge fan of this mod and the original. Is there any chance you could make a compatibility patch with Beyond Skyrim: Bruma? It adds a lot of these books, but it adds them as completely separate objects so they're missing the unique covers. I'd really appreciate it if you could, but I understand if you can't. If you're not willing to, could you, or someone who sees this, give me a general idea on how to make that patch myself?

A compatibility patch could be made using TES5EDIT but it would be complicated a little because there would be two instances of each book, each with a different FormID. This makes a simple drag and drop compatibility patch much harder to make.

The entities you would need to copy across from BCSLL are the book dimensions, the mesh referenced in the Inventory model, the weight, the static record that referenced the World model and the text contents of the book itself as I extensively checked the formatting of the books.

Beyond Skyrim have full permission to do anything with BCSLL and its included assets (as long as the result remains free because there are "non-commercial" stocks used in my mod).

I love having more books. Thanks!

Though that Saints and Seducers book looks fairly modern. But it will be buried in my library and I am unlikely to pick it up again.

That was one of the custom ones that was done for Book Jackets Oblivion that got preserved because they were so unique. Many of the Sheogorath books were like that.
