i didnt but i was one of the first people to download the mod.when it came out.then i was like.this mod will get popular you know.true story.im not lieing.then i endorsed it.i want to thank you that you created this mod because it adds immersion and its really cool.and you dont waste time like that one guy who made a basket outside of sky haven temple.please make more mods and keep up the good work.and have some rest.you deserve it.
Hey I need to ask one thing, does this stop npc to tell me their life story when i move cursor over them but didnt press E to speak with them? I hate when i rp as vampire who dont care for common folk or stupid orc who dont speak common language and is werewolf but ppl still follow me and talk bout their problems :)
Are you still searching for that mod? Because "No NPC Greetings" does that. I think there is also a setting in SkyTweak that allows you to shut the npcs up, too.
I had a similar mod for Oblivion once, and I enjoyed using it; but I DO have a problem with the idea here. When you first start talking to someone here in the real world, you STILL don't know their name until they introduce themselves, and I honestly find it a bit unimmersive that it's any different in Skyrim, Oblivion, or any other game like these in which a mod like this is being used. Why not give NPCs a dialogue option that'll have them introduce themselves to the player, after which it reverts to the original state?
Probably because a lot of npcs in the game don't refer to themselves in a first person or aren't referenced in name by another npc(,still many of them are.)I don't believe their would be enough names voiced in the voice packs to make it possible without voice actors. Well there's (fuz ro D--oh,) so that would work if it's just the dialouge Itself that you want, but i'm cool with the mod the way it is.
Idk for sure but I'm guessing (and gonna try myself) that you need to unzip the file and you will see that line is supposed to go under [Interface] which is in Documents/My Games/Skyrim/SkyPrefs.ini so I just add that line there with rest of subtitles config options. MO2 rocks but some tweaks need to be done manually, derp :P. Fingers crossed. GL and HF :).
I just seen this mod and really like the idea behind it. I also use Jaxonz Name Mod which gives every NPC in the game world a name. It is an intensive mod but really adds to the fun of talking to random NPC's as I imagine this mod would as well. Would you have any idea if this could be made compatible or how I would do that? Thanks for a bunch of great files. I also use Reflections and Vampire Nightmares too and both add to the fun of this a second time around. I'll be downloading this and at least trying it out. Thank you.
Glad someone addressed this- it occurred to me they would be awesome together, but wasn't sure if they'd have some sort of technical conflict since they both wait until you talk to an NPC to name them. Glad to see they work together, I bet it's a perfect pairing.
Side note: Love that this mod opens up all sorts of interesting RP issues, like needing to confirm your target is the right person before you assassinate them- you know, the quest said he lived here, what do you mean that was his brother? Oops...
I been using this mod for years, with the hidden name and Unknown optional files. I didn't realize for all this time that my Draugr have no subtitles when they are actually supposed to. This is the only mod I know of that comes near my subtitles. Anyone else not seeing Draugr subtitles in their game?
As a hearing impaired gamer, I have to resort to subtitles in order to clearly hear/understand all dialogue.
Now, this has a small issue with this mod as the dialogue subtitles tells you who's talking, even tho you haven't actually met them yet.
Is there any possible way to make the subtitles work with this? As in, if I haven't met the person talking they'll show up as "strangers" instead of their name.
How do you get the script to rerun? I've installed Inconsequential NPC's and Interesting NPC's and I need the script to rerun to tag all of the new actors.
BTW, if you are checking those mods out be aware that the big one, Interesting NPC's (3DNPC) *takes a very long time to install* let alone download. It took my system almost 10 minutes and it is... not lacking in capacity. If you have a healthy system with component hard drives expect 20-60 minutes for this to go in.
There's no neeed to re-run the script, if these NPC's are not tagged that's probably because the authors did not flag them as "Unique", and they should've done so if their NPC's are used only once. This is a problm that must be fixed on their side, not mine, sadly.
Is there anything else the problem could be? Because I checked a few NPC records in Interesting NPCs that weren't being tagged and they have the Unique flag, so that isn't the problem.
EDIT: I figured it out, looked down in the comments and seen your suggestion to reinstall the mod after creating character and it works fine. Thanks for a super cool mod!

"No NPC Greetings" works great with this mod.
